The manual shows how to assemble the jaws quite clearly. The larger jaw goes on the left with the shoulder screw down low and the lug inserting into the left side hole in the pivot link (the flat oval-ish shaped peice of metal). The smaller jaw goes on the right side, shoulder screw down low and the lug inserting into the right side hole in the pivot link. Tighten the shoulder screws and all is done.
