Lead Tape

Okey, this is it. Each week I play in a sort of workout group where a bunch of us hit for a couple hours and really mix it up. Tonight I warmed up with my woodie (!) and then switched to my modern racquet (nsixone tour 90).

I hit a MUCH heavier ball with my wood racquet and was hitting all my shots on a dime. It was apparent going immediately from one to the other how you can get away with a lot more with the new racquets - fully supporting a post I saw recently about "new vs. old" tech and how the new tech makes us all a little "better." (Don't get me started about the old timers with their 100+ sq. in. headers...)

I generated much more spin with the woodie too, by comparison. All I can say is that I will now be adding weight to the Wilson.

As somebody who grew up playing with a wood racquet, then moved to the first graphite sticks and am now playing with the "newest of the new" (read: nano tech), I can honestly say that they are just different t-o-o-l-s. In my opinion, one's not better than the other per se, they're just different tools for the job.

Shock absorption, comfort, spin, plow through, you name it, it was better with more weight and flex. I like my volleys though much better with my "modern" racquet.

Just my opinion, but I'm stickin' to it.

Lead tape = weight.Weight is what I want. I'm gonna add lead tape.

Actually, I anticipated this response last night after signing out. Shoulda mentioned that I'll be adding weight to the racket via tape and probably in the handle.

Now - placements!

Sorry sir.
