This is for the true diehards (and there are a couple of this board) as it is lengthy but has some great points. http://www.itatennis.com/Assets/ita_assets/pdf/Coaches+Workspace/Part+I-USTA_ITA_Rating_System.pdf

Here is part 2 http://www.itatennis.com/Assets/ita.../Part+II-USTA_ITA_Building_Infrastructure.pdf.

If link does not work, do google search for Harvard Dave Fish ITA paper

This paper is 6 years old, and some of his suggestions have been followed, e.g. top college players getting WCs into pro circuits. UTR is used by all college coaches now, and there are more UTR events. However, there are so many tournaments between USTA, UTR, ITA and ItF, it is hard for juniors and collegians to choose (plus many have to work in summer)-few are level-based tournaments as Fish recommends.

What has not happened is the US tennis system has not engaged the post grad tennis players. Fish has some great ideas for short local tourneys-even single or half day tourneys where working former college players could play juniors on the weekend

Holy Flash Back!!!!

GREAT article.... I'm sure USRTA and international recruiting agencies did everything they could to hide and discredit it.

It would be interesting to know if USRTA put together any sort of action plan (outside of building Lake Nona).
If so, would also be nice to see targets/objective and time-lines on when to each action is to be accomplished.

Thanks for sharing this!
