Liserfibre prostock VS Tecnifibre X-One Biphase

Has anyone here tried these strings, and can give me an opinion on how they compare in terms of power, durability, and tension maintenance? Thanks in advance.

I guess no one has tried both? How about someone who has tried Tecnifibre X-One Biphase, and can give me some info on what its like?

Strife 726,

X-One Biphase is an excellent multifilament string with “gut-like” playability. It is lively, produces a crisp feel, has excellent control, little string movement and holds tension reasonably well for a multifilament. I consider it one of the top 3 multis. It is now offered in 18 gauge.
Here is an excerpt from an URSA Play Test, (Published August 2004 Racquet Tech Magazine by Greg Raven):

“X-One Biphase didn't just score first overall in the Comfort category, it far surpassed our previous first-place string. Even though competition among manufacturers has brought down the price of the traditional comfort string—natural gut—X-One Biphase's comfort-to-cost ratio could win it a lot of friends among those with arm problems, and that's not taking into consideration its many other fine qualities, or its ease of stringing compared to gut. The average score was good enough to vault X-One Biphase into fourth place of all the strings we've tested.”

Hope this helps. I dont have any experience with the LF Pro Stock but maybe Jerry Seinfield will chime in here.

X-One Bi-Phase is the best (by far) of the Technifibre multis with which I have hit. I was impressed with the crisp feel, responsiveness and it holds tension better than any of its Technifiber siblings. I would rate it in the top 5 multis currently available, perhaps even in the top 3. It is an incredibly solid string. What it has lacked for me is the "wow" factor. While nearly all who have tried it have had praise for the string, it just isn't one of those strings that people remember and have to have. They like it, but the price is a little high.

That said, the Pro Stock is similar. It is even more expensive than the Bi-Phase, perhaps not quite as durable, but is specifically designed to play more like gut. The micro-tissue technology costs more and while it makes a great substitute for natural gut in weather/court conditions that might harm natural gut, it does not quite reach the same performance as gut. It plays a little livlier than the bi-phase and caresses the ball a bit more, but again the price makes it a tough sell. If this string were in the $10.00 - $13.50 range it would be wildly popular. Bottom line is it is expensive and doesn't play as well as a natural gut hybrid, IMO, but does comes closer to natural gut than the multis that are currently in wide spread distribution. Both are fine multis and you won't go wrong giving them a playtest for yourself to see which you prefer in your racquet.

i'm sold on X-one

I have been very impressed by X-One biphase and I hate buying expensive strings, but this one finally makes it worth it.

I have not had ANY fraying on this string after 6 sets. GREAT!
Tons of power, btw. It really does feel like a nat. gut string.
Added mph's to my serve.

Many people have commented that they have never seen me play better after watching me when I first used this string. Was it just because the strings were fresh? Maybe, but I have only lost 1 GAME in the last 3 matches and I am beginning to think this string is partly responsible.
So easy on my shoulder too, which is why I got rid of poly and went back to a multi.....

Strife726,

According to the USRSA database for Play Tests:

#1 Klip X-Plosive (gut mains/poly crosses) 3.70
#2 Prince Synthetic Gut w/Duraflex 3.68
#3 Wilson NXT OS 3.67
#4 Dunlop Max Comfort 3.66

Not a huge difference in the top 4 strings. Please keep in mind these "playtests" are subjective and the play testers do have string biases (some dislike poly, etc.) but they are blind tests which adds to their credibility. The playtesters receive string in an unwrapped package. They sumbit a rating of the string for various catgories (playability, comfort, power, etc.) that are tallied by the USRSA with play testers' comments.

You can get more information from this thread. http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=41037&highlight=USRSA+Playtests

See Greg Raven's post:

"Group playtests. USRSA has well over 100 USRSA members who have agreed to playtest strings and report their opinions. USRSA gathers the opinions and presents the findings on a group basis. Thus, these opinions come not from USRSA, but rather from interested volunteers. USRSA is just the messenger of the information."

Hope this helps. IMHO, the USRSA membership is well worth the annual fee of $100.

both x-one and laserfiber ive hit with. i liked the laserfiber tons more. it had better feel, playability, control. i actually think that laserfibre is one of the best multi's out there. the x-one has better power but thats not what im lookin for in a multi. I actually cut out the x-one that i had and replaced it with some other stuff. anyways thats just me. overall i just wasn't that impressed with it.

I agree with Jerry. I've played with both strings, more with Pro Stock. Bi-Phase is good stuff, very playable, not too stiff yet lively, holds tension much better than NRG. Pro Stock is crisp and resilient, holds tension very well, plays closer to gut than any string on the market. At 20 bucks, it's a tough sell compared to nat gut and nat gut hybrids. I think the niche for Supernatural Pro Stock is as the best wet condition substitute for natural gut

I just tried X-One yesterday and it's pretty nice.. Feels almost like NGR2 but with a little more power. I think I might make a switch to X-One 18s

Why not try Laserfiber Supreme 17? I actually think it is the best of all the Laserfibers, despite being only in the "mid" range of price for them.

I don't know if they make it in 18 g. though...I'd love to try it if they did.
