Looking for a super comfy poly

Hey everyone after tonight's club practice my wrist has been nailed. My racquets came strung with two different poly hybrids(Kirschbaum Pro Line II 18/Wilson Reaction 16; Gosen Polylon 16/Gosen Pro Form Tuff 15L) and the pain is too much :( I normally have my third racquet(all three are the same) strung with Babolat VS Touch/Luxilon BB Power Rough and even then i had some wrist pain, probably not as much due to the softness of the natural gut. I am using a n95 16x18 and need a suggestion on a really comfy poly string. The reason I want poly, even though it hurts me, is due to their durability. I'm going to hybrid the poly with a mutli, I will probably go to X-One Biphase as Babolat VS is getting really expensive. Hopefully the already "softer" poly will be softened further by the multi. So any recommendations?

Also, try doing a search. There are a lot of threads on this topic.

i tried sticking with poly but if the pain stays just run away from them for good. yonex 850 is a more durable multi.

try mid or lower tension-- unique big hitter blue 17 and spp 1.23. If those don't work then stop using POLYS!!
and yes there are tons of threads on this and people keep coming up and asking this question. simple truth is Polys just aren't right for a lot of people.

Yea, I second this. Also, if you want durability try thicker gauges for multi/syngut. Thinner gauges of poly are also softer as well.

Pro Supex Big Ace mains and Pro Supex Maxim Touch crosses.

You can't go wront with this setup. I was using it, really comfortable and durable, yet allows you to keep the ball in the court.

I was using this setup, but decided to change because I was looking for more solidness and control.

you might want to try pro hurricane 16 in the mains with prince syn gut w/duraflex 17 in the crosses. it is a comfortable setup that provides a good bite on the ball. also has the durability that your looking for. if you string you own racquet it doesn't cost but about 8-9 dollars per.

I've tried the pro hurricanes before and wasn't impressed as a full setup. I've read good things about psg w/duraflex so ill order a set in my next order. Pro Supex isn't sold by TW so ill have to look elsewhere... But I'll only try these after spp/unique big hitter and I find that they work for me. Thanks for the input guys.

On another note, when I'm testing the strings should i play use them at a full setup that way I know what i like about the strings compared to testing them in a hybrid where I might be mislead to believe otherwise? If so, would they be soft enough to use a full setup and not bust my wrist?

Has anyone used natural gut and compared it to a multi(X-One Biphase)? Could you guys comment on the difference in power, spin, control, comfort, and durability?

If you want to look for a place that sells Pro Supex, just google for Pro Supex Big Ace and you'll find a depot of strings that sells it.

You probably shouldn't just try to shift strings by now, and it likely shouldn't be just another poly when you do.

Take time off, rest and rehab it.

Mmmmm... I am definitely taking some time off until I my wrist feels healthy again. I'll also be getting it massaged since that always helps. And for not trying another poly I am a bit hesitant but ill string one up with full multi and compare it to a hybrid and I'll see from there.

Your main concern now should be the durability of your arm, rather than that of your string.

X1 is not a very soft multi. If you can't afford gut, try Isospeed Professional/Control, Head Protector, Alpha Gut 2000 18, Gamma Professional 18, etc.

Also, note the usual trend for softer polys: the softer the string, the less spin. Having said this, Big Ace Micro provides excellent spin for being such a comfortable poly.

I just strung my "TGK237.1" Head Micro Gel Prestige with the following:

Main: Wilson 15L Natural Gut

Cross: Black Code 16

It feels very comfortable, it's the best set up yet. Its feels solid, but not super stiff like Lux BB Rough, which hurt my elbow.

Babolat Pro Hurricane 18 Polyester 1.21 187
Pacific Poly Power 18 Polyester 1.09 201

Hybrid either with gut= extremely soft!

Head Sonic Pro 17 is pretty soft and comfortable. Had it in a demo last week in a full bed, the first time I have ever used a full bed, and wasn't as harsh as I thought it would be.

...yes, a demo with a full bed of poly!! I couldn't believe it...

For a nice and soft poly give WC SS 1.2 a try. To me, the SS is much better than Big Ace.

The Unique big hitter blue is also very nice, and high powered.

If you can't make the 17g soft poly mains work for your wrist, I think you'll want to go back to 15g syn gut.

I did a hybrid of X-1 17g crosses and WC Silverstring 1.20 mains. Both of these are quite soft.

I did this set up at my normal tension, and it was way too soft and too powerful with little control. So you need to string these at higher tensions.

I did 52/55 (in a 90 sq. in head). If I did it again, I would do 55/58.
