I go low, but I can't top ATP Doubles Specialist, DM. DM gets his racquets strung at 29lbs. / 31lbs. I think he is in the Wilson K6.1 16x18. His doubles ranking is currently in the top 100.

He jokingly came into the room before his second round and said, "I really want to be able to swing through the ball today, let's go up to 31 / 33."

Do the poly mains move around much at this tension?

Not too much string movement with this setup......but I wish there was! Personally, I enjoy moving my strings back into place as a way to gain my focus between points. But the poly mains don't really allow for this.

Sbs......

I wonder if you could correlate these tensions to the headsize. (I have the suspicion that lower tensions work better in smaller head racquets.)

Interesting theory. Most of the posters (including myself) did not provide the necessary data of headsize, so I can't perform a correlation. For what it's worth, I'm using a 100 sq inch racquet, which is a pretty large headsize for posters around here.

There is a direct correlation between tension, headsize and string stiffness. In order to tune the racquet perfectly to the desired SBS(string bed stiffness), you must work with these numbers to get the desired feel. The smaller the head size the higher the SBS referenced to the string stiffness.

The other thing that most people overlook is that some poly manufacturers stress not to overpull their poly string as the string will play dead from the first point (unless that is what you are going for). This is due to the low elongation properties in most poly string.

Cheers, TennezSport

Dunlop AG500T : Kevlar main @ 46 and Stamina cross @ 47

kevlar is still super dead!! Maybe kevlar and low tension is not right for this racket

Gonna try PolyStar Energy at around 45 on my i.prestige later

I have all my BLX 95 18X20 racquets strung at:

Mains: VS TEAM 17 @ 24 kg/52 lbs
Crosses: Lux Alu Power @ 22 kg/48 lbs

I know it isn't that low, but it's pretty low tension, for me at least :p

I once won a local open tourny strung at 32 lbs, with a titanium stick, match mate, which was warped and cracked badly, shaped like gumby. Really more like a 4.5 tourny.
