crap...I guess we can only poll these strings.....Im not cut and pasting anymore...my fingers hurt...if you want to continue the "legacy"...be my guest...LOL.

In the stringforum, someone tries to cheat and voted 10 times under different names. I am sure that will occur in this poll as well. aready I see two replies yet there are three votes. Oh well :(

You dont have to reply to vote. P.S. Personally I think the string forum poll is useless. 36 voters deciding string of the year?! If we could get the almost 5000 members of this board to vote, then you'd have some useful numbers!

I'm probably going to step on lots of toes, but I don't care... They should go ahead and rename the site, polyforum.net. Not one (!) natural gut string places in the top 5 in either the power or feel categories. And then you have 5 poly strings place in the top 5 in tension stability!? LOL. I'm a big fan of poly string, but c'mon!

schange50,

I posted (unsuccessfully) question if people on this board find marks given on stringforum to match their own experience.
Although database is abundant, after a lot of searching I can't say I have much better insight than before... It's a bit non descriptive, lots of brief data. But it is a good foundation for further development IMO.

Alu is used everywhere, and most people have at least tried it, so I suppose that that's the reason for it up there. Oh, and that it's pretty good till you wreck your arm.

I only played with four or five different types of strings. Those that are mentioned here (on this board) are described pretty much like I would (RIP Control, OG Sheep, Titan gut...). Given the limited number of strings I can obtain at my stringer, it is bigger chance to find some of those strings in large stringforum database.

I just would like to know if people that have tested significant number of strings find marks on stringforum to match their own, ie would it be wise to rely on stringforum evaluation database or not (as someone mentioned - it is still a fairly low number of voters per string on stringforum, so results can still be quite biased).

And at last but not the least, personal taste is more hidden behind numerical evaluations, and I would like to find out about proportion of taste vs. objectivity in stringforum's database - possible influence of specific "community taste".

Tried out BB Alu in a HPS 6.1 today. Terrific bite, no movement, and no pain so far. It was strung pretty low (55ish lb) though. So, I'd say use common sense. Stringing any poly at 65 in a Babolat Pure Drive or any other 70ish flex frame is foolish. Like an all kevlar job at that tension.

These are the funniest things I always see.Lux takes the top 3.I can guarantee this as a stringer and a player that I do 5-10 different people's Lux Alu's and out of them only about 30 percent of them actually see a true benefit.I'm talking about guys who string way low or way high and always complain about lack of power and can't put it away and this and that and blah and blah and blah and they still string with it even with more succes with medium grade multi's.Save your money people, they are seriously for 10-20 percent of the tennis industry,I mean if your 3.5 or below and I don't care what racquet your using or what frame your using your probably going to see better results elsewhere, but again there are tons of guys who still love the name and the fact that tons of pro's use it.Not to knock poly's because I use them, but this aura that Lux has over the industry is hype and there are just too many people(many stringers) who don't know better than to really help their customers and give them something better and make them get over their fantasies or pro play with pro name strings.

IMO Luxilon Ace and TiMo are made for people below 3.5... Ace is really a soft string... (JUST STRING AT a 10% LOWER TENSION than your usual tension)

IMO Roger Federer gave a great tip for ALL tennis players:

String at the lowest tension that you can control a ball with.

I guess it depends on what part of the country we live in. Polys are about 5% of my stringing customers. Reading this board, you'd think my number should be 50%. I actually do more with Enduro Tour than Lux, by the way.

Him using 59lb makes perfect sense now. Isn't that pretty low for a pro?

Keep in mind that pros play with fresh strings. When strings are fresh and lively, the racquet bed is more forgiving on off centered shots and balls are really bouncy off of them.

In our survey so far Luxilon held the #1 & 4 spots as Lux Ace & Lux Timo were tied at #4. I think its interesting to see that the #1 spot in our poll was Luxilon and the#2 spot was gut. It shows the war between Poly's and Gut. Do you think Poly's will actually beat out gut as the preferred string?

You got it spot on mate they’d be better of stringing with something like Gosen JC16 (very good string for the price) and concentrating more on improving there tennis.

Maybe the heading of this post should be changed to Favorite String Poll if you want to attract a fair equal amount of posters not just people who worship Luxilon.

HEY STRINGBREAKER,

By just calling it UBER POLL it will allow more than 10 options? That is weird. In any event...It would take me a few days to cut and paste all of those options...but if there are any takers out there then be my guest! ....I personally would love to see the results....I just don't want to cramp my tennis hand!

Haha, :) no I meant could the admins rename the thread title, and change the max options in the poll setting to allow more than 10.

IMO, LUX BB is now overvalued by the wavepower. It is impressive for the spin but imo it makes shots flying too much compare to the wpower and wavepower +.

To have only one natural gut selection does not make sense unless you want all the natural players to just select it as the alternative option.
