Maybe this is really the time for Nadal to retire?

What Nadal might achieve from now on?

Right, the easiest thing to do is simply ignore the clearly existent problems which I mentioned in the thread. Nadal right now is nothing but a big choker. Today was the cherry on the pie when he was serving for the match in the second set and lost.

The clearly existent problem is your posting which is either some of the most harebrained trolling ever seen or is indicative of some sort of mental disorder. Neither scenario is a rosy one for you.

What circumstances make it reasonable for a top player to retire?

1. Spending a full season reaching no finals despite being in good physical condition
2. Having a major injury or a complete loss of form
3. Collapse of civilization
4. Whenever they bloody feel like it

now i admit 2 and 3 were close calls for Nadal this year, but he nicely got it back together in time for the end of season

Seriously, what is wrong with yall lol? Dude is OPENLY TROLLING and yall aren't catching it. He probably doesn't even like Nadal and it's going over your heads.
Au contraire. dude is probably practising reverse psychology and eliciting praise from even non Rafa fans by his hyperbolic negativity while internally he's floating on a happy Rafa cloud!

He's either a Nadal fan who is in character 100% of the time (yes obviously probably happy) or he's in character 100% of the time and doesn't care about Rafa either way. Regardless, the main goal of his trolling is attention and he's succeeded beyond his dreams. Anyone could do it, but what anyone can't do is do it 100% of the time all day every day and not get tired of doing it, that's where I really have to applaud him. I like being me too much to come on here in character. Every time he logs in he has to do the "Nadal has no chance" propaganda, and he has my utmost respect for never tiring of it.

And ANOTHER choke from Nadal. But keep bashing me. You will see I am right time after time. Nadal is so done, it's not even funny. He can't play any big points anymore.

Oh shut up. Give some credit to Tsitsipas.
Yeah, Tsitsipas FORCED the 3 overhead misses from Nadal in the tiebreak. More trolling from you. Do you realize this is not a new thread? Nadal chokes time after time, after time, after time, after time...So you want to tell me he never choked, just ALL OF HIS OPPONENTS are suddenly mentally strong?

It will not change anything. The guy can't win ANY big points anymore. He is mentally done. Clay will not save him.
I don't think is mental or choking. With Nadal is a physical thing. If he doesn't blitz his opponent in the first 2-3 sets he is in trouble physically against younger opponents.

Wow I didn’t expect that, I thought Nadal would win in straights.

Credit to Tsisipas, what a match he played to turn it around. He’s gone up in my estimation.

3 consecutive seasons not winning the French is only way he retires. Assuming he'd have something like 2016 where he'd withdraw or have health issues. He would probably retire after 2 years of being embarrassed but let's be honest that ain't happening.

And clay is the most physical surface, so there he will be even worse.
Yeah, but on clay is difficult to survive his constant barrage in the first 2-3 sets. If someone manage to make a dog fight out of that match, long physically grueling 4 or 5 setter, then yes, Nadal will be in a world of trouble, even on his beloved clay.

Who needs to win big points when you can just win RG without dropping a set?
There is no RG anymore. It is DO now. And stop pointing at what happened last year. Nadal was extremely lucky with Zverev and Thiem losing. There is no way he wins it again. He is done winning slams.

Nadal will have 3 more possibilities to win a last GS: RG 2021, Wimbledon 2021 (Believe it or not) and RG 2022 when he will turn 36.
After that there is no point for him to continue.
