Monica Seles Sighting

Monica Seles was at the PGA Tour Superstore in Plano, TX yesterday. She was there promoting Yonex and doing a autograph session. The store has one indoor tennis court and anyone who wanted to hit with her was able to. I hit with her for all but 30 seconds. She's looking great and can still hit a mean two hander (both sides).

The store had scheduled her to be there to promote Yonex. About 150 to 200 people came to see her. The store didn't really advertise much about it so the crowd was small. As part of the promotion, people were able to select one of several Yonex racquets to try out and hit with Monica. I already play with an RDS001 so I picked up a demo and started hitting. It was nice to see a two handed backhand coming at me from her racquet.

I don't know which racquet she was hitting with. Her microphone was coming and going so I didn't get the model. By the time I got up close to her, she had already put the racquet in her bag.

She was initially hitting with the store's pro and occassionally she wanted to hit a little harder. As soon as he put one on the backhand side and around chest level, she would crush it. She's still got it. She didn't give us any of her trademark grunts though.

She doesn't normally start grunting til the 2nd or 3rd game of the first set in a real match. Her timing is exceptional if you see her upclose. I have chatted with her briefly and took pics and got her autograph but never hit with her. That's awesome man I am glad for you. She is very softspoken and nice to talk with.

I've seen recent pics at a Yonex sponsored event where she was hitting with an RQS-55.
