Most Consecutive Championships and/or Losses to Champion

We all know that Federer has either won every Grand Slam or lost to the player who eventually won the Grand Slam since the 2004 Wimbledon.

I wonder what player has won the most consecutive Grand Slams and/or lost to the eventual champion at a Grand Slam.

I would think Ivan Lendl at the U.S. Open.

He lost to the eventual champion in 82, 83, 84, 88, 89, 90, 91, and 92. He won it in 85, 86, 87.

Thoughts?

I'm sure there are other longer streaks but Lleyton Hewitt lost to the eventual champion 7 times consecutively in 7 appearances in majors from the 2004 AO to the 2005 USO. Federer was the eventual champion 6 out of those 7 times.

6 out of 8? Or 5 out of 7? Federer didn't win the French Open

Amazing, at a slam, Lendl is 11 years in a row. He made 8 straight finals (82-89). so obviously can lose only to champion.
Plus another 3 years (90-92) losing to champions.

Fed's currently going at 7 years at Wimbledon, 6 at USO, 7 at AO and 5 at FO.

7 out of 7 times Hewitt lost to the eventual champion at the slams in 2004-2005, because he missed the 2005 French Open due to a cracked rib. Federer won 5 out of the 8 slams in 2004-2005. If you don't count the 2005 French Open, Federer won 5 out of 7 slams in 2004-2005.

2004 Australian Open: Hewitt lost to Federer in the fourth round
2004 French Open: Hewitt lost to Gaudio in the quarter finals
2004 Wimbledon: Hewitt lost to Federer in the quarter finals
2004 US Open: Hewitt lost to Federer in the final
2005 Australian Open: Hewitt lost to Safin in the final
2005 Wimbledon: Hewitt lost to Federer in the semi finals
2005 US Open: Hewitt lost to Federer in the semi finals

Ivan Lendl:

1985 US Open: won title
1985 Australian Open: lost in semis to Edberg (eventual champion)
1986 French Open: won title
1986 Wimbledon: lost in final
1986 US Open: won title

I think he has the most losses to the eventual champion 22 or 23?
