Most nervous performance of all time?

Even in the third set,Djokovic couldn't put away Medvedev's horrible drop shots missing simple forehand/ bh at the net.

Thoughts?

Not even Top 10.

Medvedev brung it and knew from AO he needed to break Novak early.
Yeps Med was excellent.
Med didn’t even give him a look in the first set tbf. Nerves though played a huge role, but med played far too well to say it was just that.

Medvedev entered the matrix tonight with his
retrieving.

Djokovic was shell shocked when he lost the
opening game from 40-15 up.

A lot like last year's RG Final

I thought Djokovic started reading his serve a lot better starting from the second there but he wanted absolutely nothing of Medvedev's baseline play.
And every time, he successfully chase down the drop shots, his hands froze to fail at the subsequent putaway.
Sorry I know you are Fed fan but some of Fedal fan think Med is absolute trash but it is not true, on hc, Med can literally challenge anybody.
Med, Zverev, Thiem problem are mental

Even when veteran ttwers and bionic posters where projecting Tsitsipas as the next dominating ruler , I told them Medvedev's defense and movement is in different league.
He lost AO because he was shocked by Novak's crazy ROS performance that day.

Yep , I remember you like me always supported Mad lad.
I know a historic opportunity was loss but really happy that Mad lad won

Could this have been a case of a tough 5 sets semifinal really hurting Djokovic for the final? like his 5 sets semifinal against Del Potro in wimbledon 2012 and losing quite easily to Murray in the final
He is 4-6 in slam final after playing 5 set semi

Yep, he was nervous as hell. He just needed one break of serve before the downfall in third set, and he really could have won here. But he was just too nervous. Daniil played nothing special, Zverev played much more better match on friday, imo.

He is 4-6 in slam final after playing 5 set semi, physical fitness is really important for him

How come the HC GOAT and physical/mental giant Djokovic was blown off the court today by a guy wanted to win his first major? Never seen RF being beaten so bad in a GS final outside of RG08!

He missed atleast 5 putaway sitters. Crazy scenes.

Yep.

In parallel universe, with Novak losing FO this year, I think he wins today the US open. The pressure was huge with the Grand Slam on the verge, everyone expected it.

If I could pick between AO+FO+WIM and AO+WIM+USO, I'd still pick the first one, which happened. Hoped for CYGS, but it's almost impossible, even if you get this far.

Serena yes, but Novak was little bit tired
A little bit tired because he was a little bit tight all through the tournament, and couldn't win matches easier. Serena was the same age when this happened to her.

Not the most of course, but it was very nervous. Right from the start the serve was MIA. Compare that with how it was firing against Zverev. Tiredness was not to blame for the 1st set loss. It's in the 2nd, where the movement became visibly worse as Djokovic was already struggling to keep up in rallies. From there it was physical + mental tiredness, stress peaking with that racket smash and leaving Djoko exhausted.

Also he said, the crowd support touched his heart and that probably made the emotions even more difficult to handle. You know how when you're holding in tears and someone asks if you're okay and it's game over? That was happening to Novak out there on a bigger scale

Exactly the same thing happened to Serena. Tight as a drum.

Danill was about to turn his back on one of the drop shots that rose to Novak's chest and Djokovic missed even the doubles sideline with his putaway BH. I was like, WOW!

WTF Google said it was starting around now. So I could’ve watched it before work lol.

And what a result to wake up to. Daniil, all is forgiven and we’re sorry for doubting you!

Look if Aslan’s not up to it, and it doesn’t seem like he is these days, Daniil is my next favourite even if I was seriously disappointed by that AO performance.

Two massive denoelifications by gutsy Russians who play their own games.

I guess he would have had much less pressure if he had already owned the GS record. If Djokovic feels the pressure imagine Roger or even Nadal in his position - even though Nadal is also a mental giant usually.
