In terms of who's had the best career I'd say Hewitt but not by much. However I think Murray's the better player in terms of accomplishments, peak level of play and consistency.

IMO Hewitt > Murray > Safin > Roddick(so far)

Murray's peak level higher than Safin's? Lol.

I voted Murray.

Hewitt dominated only when Federer wasn't around. He was ,but not his peak.
Howewer Murray give him trouble in his prime. So Murray wins.

Highest peak level: Safin - 2005 AO anyone?

Consistency: Murray - for his slam finals and masters titles. Roddick is up there too with years in the top 10.

Career achievements (the point of this thread): Hewitt - weeks at #1 and WTF

No, no and no. Safin's best match was the US Open 2000 final, at AO 2005, Safin played really bad at times. It was Safin not giving up and not being dead in the final which won him the tournament. He did have great periods of play, but wasn't his absolute peak. It was his best display of mental strength.

In terms of peak I think Roddick on faster hard courts and grass is arguably better than Murray and Hewitt.

2000 USO and 2005 AO are two different periods where Marat showed peak tennis.

Paris Masters 2002 and the Masters Cup in 2004 are two other times he showed peak tennis.

On grass? I'd agree. But on faster hardcourts? I don't know. I'd say he's pretty much even with both of them on faster hardcourts -- remember, indoors Roddick wasn't great either.
