I didn't see all the match because I was on a date at the time, I watched bits of it on BBC i player this morning though and from what I saw Murray looked basically fresh the whole time?
As I say I didn't watch it all, but he certainly looked fresh and that match was 4 hours and 2 minutes! That without the days rests you get at slams, playing the previous days and then going over 4 hours fresh?

I remember in the fall of 2014 recovering from back surgery when he went on that run of 6 consecutive tournaments, he played a final against Robredo which I think lasted for 3 hours and 56 minutes and at the end he was basically a spent force.

Is he now at his fittest ever level? He has played several 5 set matches this year and won all of them I think.

1 against Raonic at AO, 1 against Nishikori in the DC, 2 in a row at the FO and 1 against Tsonga at Wimbledon.

Right now he seems to be a physical beast. I'd love to know his regime.

I am not a British, but Andy Murray fan. Thoroughly enjoyed the final. The great thing was the match was played after my Church time. I missed Wimbledon final due to Church. When it comes to God or Tennis, God comes first always.

Greatest test of Murray's fitness will be US Open, he will be flesh due to 2 weeks off, but will he be mentally motivated to win another GS after all the achievement he had this year? Winning Wimbledon and being the first man to defend Olympic Gold Singles, is a great achievement.

I missed the Wimbledon final because I knew it would be a total bore. No need to cry.

All you need to do is watch Federer.

Ok so not much actual discussion of his current fitness level then....

The date went very well, she is very pretty and we seem to click well. We are going out this week again.

I just saw that Murray actually had treatment to a "shoulder injury" in Cinci (This doesn't count as a match result). Anyone know how bad that is? Maybe an issue for the US Open?

I'm not convinced Murray was fresh in the final. He looked exhausted for a lot of it, but Delpo looked even more tired!

I didn't watch the Cinci match, but it seems he got shoulder treatment quite early in the match last night. It's unusual for him to get an MTO, but he['s not pretending he's not tired. Hopefully just a bit stiff, and he was being sensible by getting himself in match condition, instead of fighting through when not playing his best.

I commented on this in the match thread. It was insane how Del Potro was showing him every corner of the court but Murray kept getting everything back without looking tired. I genuinely feel that Murray simply cannot be tired out right now. The guy has lost the ability to feel fatigue. He must be more fit than a Kenyan marathon runner, no joking.

His match with Robredo in Valencia was three hours twenty minutes and as you mentioned was on the tail-end of his run of playing six weeks straight; Schenzhen, Beijing, Shanghai, Vienna, Valencia, Paris. I think the playing six straight weeks and all the traveling needed to do so probably had more to do with how gassed he was in the final rather than it just be a long grueling match. Having said that, Murray had stamina problems in early 2015 as well -- running out of gas in the Australian Open and Miami Masters finals. So I think his conditioning is better now but he looked tired and banged up last night against Monaco, taking an injury timeout in the first set for his shoulder. These are the type of tournaments that have given Murray trouble in the past; lost to Chardy here in straights after winning gold in 2012 - but if he ever wants to become number one he needs to rise about it and play himself into form the way Djokovic does so well.

It's obvious that Murray trained to the point of over training after the back surgery. I'm sure he trained harder after that than he ever did, thinking that his fitness would speed up the healing process and get him back to where he was before the surgery. The result has been that he's come back stronger than ever, possibly even better than before the surgery.

Ha...if only. He had to take an MTO last night for a sore shoulder. This is the time of the year when his efforts in the first half usually begin to catch up with him as happened this time last year in Cincy and then in New York. It's very much fingers crossed time for him on the stamina/fitness front.

i remember an article earlier before wimbledon( when ivan joined back) that ivan phoned jez green (andy's physio) before joining to the team and asked him how was andy physically and jez responded that indeed he is at almost the peak of his condition, he stated that he is at a 96-97% of his full capacity that they have been working on for all this years.

im just quoting what i read then but in my opinión its crazy to think that after all these years of 5 set matches and playing in every way posible that it is only now that they are supossedly near perfection knowing that murray has been taking his fitness seriously since almost 10 years, apparently ivan wanted to make sure that fitness was not an issue when working with andy so he could make sure to push him hard enough in practice safetely without setbacks.

i hope i dont get trolled or made fun at for this.

and of course playing three tournaments in 1 week wich finished with a 4 hour marathon does not mean that even the fittest are guaranteed to not feel tired, in his first match in cincy andy requested for treatment on the shoulder wich seems normal to have such issue after the week he had in rio, also take note that after the olympic final a few hours later andy went in a private jet to cincy with rafa, so these 2 at the least have not had a proper recovery, and also take into consideration that they both practiced on monday and tuesday so its not like they have taken a day off from their titanic efforts in the olympics, surely they must feel like they are inside of a slam right now.
