For those of you who have used both of them, what are the pros and cons of each? I have a blx 6.1 95 (16x18) and I love it, I've read that it's similar to the blx. My friend wants to sell me his n 6.1 95 (16x18), and I would like to know how they are alike.

Back in late Jan (I think) I started a thread that addresses some of the differences between the 2 rackets. http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=309327

I'm a long time n61 95 "16x18" user. I started using the BLX 95 "16x18" about 5 weeks ago and haven't gone back to the n95, and right now, I have no plans to switch back.

I play an all-around game and I find both rackets handle all the shots well. I really don't have any negatives about either racket.

The main difference I'm finding is that the BLX plays lighter and is more manueverable. The plus for the n95 is that it feels a bit more solid to me, so I think I might give the n95 a slight-edge on groundstrokes against a very big hitter, or maybe service returns against a big server, but other than that, I give the BLX95 the edge, mainly because its a very manueverable, solid racket that I think is easier to play with than the n95. Serving and overheads are very noticably easier for me with the BLX95.

All my experience with the BLX95 has been indoors on medium speed hardcourts. The outdoor clay season doesn't start for a few months. My guess is that I'll be happy with the BLX95 on the slower clay courts.

Let me know if you have any specific question about either racket.

barney, others,

Serving and overheads are very noticably easier for me with the BLX95.

Does the BLX 95 then have a bit more juice on serve? A bit more power and action?

Also...

Which feels stiffer?

Thanks,

R.

I'm not so much a power server anymore, so I'm probably not the best person to answer the question about juice on the serve. I find the weight (it feels lighter) and balance seem to fit me well, allowing me to consistently place serves really well. I feel like my first serve percentage has definitely improved. It's also easier for me to generate spin on the serve (and in general) with the BLX95.

Additionally, I think it's easier to generate racket head speed with the BLX, so I would image that would translate into a faster, more lively first serve, for those who like to bomb the first serve.

On the other hand, overall, I think the n95 hits a heavier ball, so a physically stronger player might feel that the n95 hits the more powerful serve.

On overheads, I'm getting an easier wristsnap action, which for me is producing an overhead with more pop.

As for the stiffness, I think there's more flex in the BLX95, but I think the n95 is more comfortable, which is probably contrary to what most users have reported. Maybe because the n95 feels more solid to me.

I've been using the BLX95 exclusively since I got it, about 5 or 6 weeks ago. Yesterday, I had a string pop at 2-2 in the first set of a tough match. I've been playing so well with the BLX that I was extremely apprehensive about having to now switch to another racket during a tough match, even though the other racket was my old reliable n61 95.

It turned out my fears were totally unfounded. The transition to the n95 was surprisingly, totally seamless. I think there's subtle differences between the BLX95 and n95, but they do seem to play very alike. I went on to win the first set 6-2 and was ahead 4-1 when time ran out.

I think any n61 95 user looking for a replacement should definitely look at the BLX95.
