It's well known that Rafa and a lot of his relatives are football fans. The president of La Liga, Javier Tebas, went to visit Rafa's sports centre/academy this week. La Liga is men's top professional football division of the Spanish football league system and is contested by 20 teams, including Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.

Exhibition Event in Adelaide

Planned for January 29, 2021

The top 3 ATP and WTA players & their teams & practice partners (50 people in total) will arrive directly in Adelaide from overseas and will be quarantined in Adelaide. On January 29, after the 14-day quarantine period, they will play an exhibition event before heading to Melbourne to play pre-AO tournaments at Melbourne Park.

Anyone know exactly who will be in Rafa's team flying out to Adelaide? I presume Moya? Anyone else? Can Moya leave the room and go to practice with him?

Is Rafa's wife going over? I presume she can't leave room? Or does anyone know?

According to MARCA (for Dec.29), Rafa was planning to travel to Melbourne on January 12. Yesterday, the AO organisers changed the destination of his flight to Adelaide and now I don't know when he starts his journey.

That explains it. Because obviously Sinner is much higher competition than Marc. It also will give Rafa insight into an up-and-comer's game which their FO match maybe didn't completely reveal.

Exciting! This sounds sad but I just want him to arrive safe and sound without Covid...As sad as this sounds I need AO to happen and see Rafa play - life is kinda crap right now with everything going on!

Going to be interesting to see what affect quarantine/length of time in Australia has on players - maybe it makes zero difference and Nole wins AO as usual - not sure....In a way though it might be good for players energy/mood to be able to be in place and live normally/freely and with crowds (post quarantine I mean)....I certainly wouldn’t mind getting out of Europe for a few weeks!

Tennis was already struggling to keep the Davis Cup afloat.

Yesterday, Rafa, ND & Thiem traveled together to Adelaide in a direct flight chartered by TA from BCN. Rafa's traveling w/ Roig, Maymo, Costa & Benito. They've already undergone 1st PCR & are confined in their rooms waiting for results to start training
The article also mentions that Rafa will practice with Sinner & Marc, while Thiem will do it with Dennis Novak and Djokovic with Krajinovic
