Since everytime Federer takes a loss people start yelling he should retire, I thought it was only appropriate to say that after that beating and poor showing by a number 1 today he should retire.

are you all insane?! whats the point of these useless topics?!
yes definitely he should retire because he won only about 30 consecutive matches. unless he wins 300 he should retire

Well there were many here calling for Fed to retire, makes about as much sense I mean he was only number one for 4 years straight. 4 years at number 1 is a complete joke right? LOL

So you decided to follow the bright example, LOL. There should be a subforum dedicated only to various fans bickering.

And please don't forget, if he chooses not to retire, he should at the very least change to a racquet with a larger head. CC

I dont think this should be considered vastly immature. I can appreciate where LafayetteHitter is coming from and regard this thread to be making an ironic, yet appropriate, point rather than causing any trouble. After all sometimes all it takes is for people to see sense is a taste of their own medicine.

He tanked the Djokovic match. He entered Toronto and Cincy with one reason in mind - to secure the #1 ranking. When it was achieved, he pushed off to recover for the Olympics, where he will win the gold.

Then, by end of next January, he will have the career Golden slam, and just a couple of Slams away from catching up with Agassi, the modern GOAT.

By summer of 09, Federer will be a distant memory.

way to break the cycle champ.

& he's not #1 yet.

& #1 losing to #3 in semis is not really a terrible showing.

great thread.

Total BS. Nadal stated in many interviews that he wanted to concentrate on the tournament and not simply being number 1.
