Bucks and Lakers continue their dueling dominant starts.
Lou Williams’ non-existent defense catalyzes a rout by the Bucks as he somehow achieves a -33 +/- in only 23 minutes, mostly playing alongside noteworthy defenders PG, Load Manager, and Beverley. Clips aren’t sniffing finals unless they eject him from rotation.
Meanwhile, Lakers’ second team of Kuzma, Dwight, Caruso, and Rondo (with staggered minutes from LeBron) did most of the +/- damage last night in road routing the Blazers.

A quarter way into the season and I can’t recall a season where there was so much separation between the teams in the top 10 and the rest of the league. The regular season features a lot of blowouts, but can’t wait for the playoffs. I also can’t remember a season where the title was so up for grabs. Bucks, Lakers, Clips, and even the Raps and Rockets have to be considered in the mix for the title. And second tier teams like the Celts, Mavs, Sixers, and Nuggets are good enough to potentially play spoilers.

I liked Matthews since his days with Portland and it seems like he will play a good role this year. I am happy for him.
Milwaukee crushed LAC but it will be a different story if they match in the finals. Leonard and George are beasts come the playoffs time.

Indiana fans just won’t let go of their hate for PG13. He was booed every touch early in the LAC rout of the Pacers. After his 36/9/5/2/1 contribution, he promised to do a tell all one day about the breakup and hinted the booing might stop when the facts are laid out.

Trae Young went too far with his mouth by audibly saying, “It’s over!” as he walked to the bench with a 6-point Hawks lead and 59 seconds left. Miami scored six to tie and the first 16 points in OT for a 135-121 win. Butler and Adebayo had trip dubs but the scoring was led by Kendrick Nunn and Duncan Robinson (36 and 34).

After the first 25 games, the gap between the best player in the NBA this year (guess who?) and the next-best guy is so remarkably large that the media would probably vote almost unanimously if season ended today.

The Warriors erased an 18 point halftime deficit to force OT but the Knicks walked away victorious narrowly beating the defending western conference champs by 2. L.Williams was a DNP due to a calf injury. I suspect this injury occurred because he tried to actually play defense for the first time in a while against the Raps last game (team-best +29 plus-minus, a very rare complete effort for him).

They wound up losing 106-109 after taking a 5-point lead with two minutes to play. Beverley (concussion) and Sweet Lou (calf) were also out.
Dallas lost Doncic to a sprained ankle early and fell behind to visiting Miami but forced OT before losing. X-rays were negative so the youngster is day to day.
Another top squad playing without a stud lost when visiting Detroit beat Houston without Westbrook 115-107. Harden had 39 on 14/33 (4/13 treys) shooting but his parade to the FT line resulted in only 7/8 there.
Milwaukee cruised to an 18th straight win, 125-108 over visiting Cadavers. Giannis played just 23 minutes but scored 29.

Plus/minus in BB is in this case overrated. I think Giannis with a 48/14 effort in just 34 minutes was what kept it close. The other starters got just 23 points while three Bucks subs scored 38.

Meanwhile, they are still lagging well behind both LA teams in the Vegas odds for the 2020 title, those teams likely having to battle each other just to reach the finals. Is the public sleeping on the small-market Bucks?
The analytics junkie in me is tempted to plunk some money down on the Bucks, but my gut tells me Playoff LeBron and Playoff Rondo would make me regret it if I did.
