Need Help!!!!!!

I hope someone can help me find this book. I believe it came out in the very early 90s or late 80's and may have been set in
Seattle. About the same time frame as Anthony Shriek by Jessica Salmonson.

It's about a young man, he's an artist and/or writer. His girlfriend (who he meets at the beginning of the book) has a
condition that makes her bruise very easily, but the bruises go away very quickly (some-what like dermatographia or dermographism). Her skin is very pale, translucent. The artist uses a brush handle (or something of that nature) to write poetry/draw pictures on her body, he then paints
or photographs her and the bruises are gone the next day. It's a very strange love/hate story. I remember specifically that he finds out she has this condition after the make love, then the next morning he wakes to think that he has hurt her and panics, but she explains her condition to him and reassures him that she is ok. I think that he has 'blackouts' or 'episodes' of some kind as he believes that he hurt her and can not remember it. He may have a drug/alcohol problem which exaserbates his 'memory loss'. I also remember that they fight often, and sleep on a mattress on the floor. I belive the appartment is described as a loft. He meets her and within days she moves in. I remember that she might have been homeless, a friend of a friend. One of my favorite books ever, you'd think I could remember the title or author....Can anyone help me find it?

If you can not help find this book, maybe a recommendation on a website to find books sans title and author? I've tried ABEBooks and whatsthatbook.com.
