New 6004 with two point mount, on the way.

I ordered a new Gamma 6004 with the new two point mounting system yesterday to replace my Gamma 5003. It should arrive this afternoon. I'm really looking forward to the additional clearance afforded by the two point mount. I'm also curious to see what the difference is between my current Gamma 5003's clamp bases and the newest switch action clamps. I'll try to post later this evening about the new machine. After receiving my new machine one day after i ordered it, I do have to wonder why the Laserfibre believers are willing to wait so long for a machine, though.

It is my number one pick, interested in how it compares with your 5003 and your thoughts on the new mounting system. I strung 1 frame on the 6004, and did not miss the 6 point system at all, much faster, no obstructions.

Audiodude, Several months ago I upgraded my 6004 (old style 6 pt
turntable) to the new 2pt mount. Previously I owned the 5003.

I absolutely LOVE the new 2 pt mount! So easy to mount and work
with! The new clamps on the 6004 are smooth as silk and a joy to
use, much nicer than the old 5003 clamps.

One small concern on the new 2 pt: When mounting certain racquets that
taper to a smaller width at the throat than the head (the 03 Blue comes
to mind) the rear corners of the top of the mount may sit right against
the inside "V" of the frame and cause paint chips. This is very easily
fixed by simply placing a piece of scrap replacement grip across the rear
of the mount for the frame to rest on which raises the throat up just
enough to keep this from happening.

Hey, that's great. Those would be our first good look at a machine that uses the new 2 pt mounting system.

I'm sure your camera will do just fine.

No need to worry about having extreme high resolution and I'm sure if you shoot in whatever larger or "near large" mode your camera has, the files will be more than large enough for use. I have to downsize them anyway for use on the site, but it's good for me to be able to start with a relatively high resolution photos so I can crop and otherwise have some "elbow room" for working with the photos. Sometimes on a good, high resolution photo it's easier for me to crop it into two or three shots than to have someone try to get a extreme closeup of component and have it come out blurry, if you understand. Not that closeups aren't good, because they are, too.

But whatever you're comfortable with doing I'm sure will work out just fine. I think they'll make a great addition to the photo library if you have time to mess with it.

I can't wait to see the pics and reviews of this machine. I think the Gamma 6004 will be my next machine. I am leaning towards the 2 pt mounting over the 6 pt. also.
