New Donnay X-Series - My Thoughts

I've just got my hands on 2x x-blue 99... Very hard to find. I bought donnay usa's last one.

A lot beefier than my London and prestige pro.. Slower to manuver but hits a darn good ball when early prep is applied properly.. Only played for 20min with it so still ironing out the wrinkles..
One thing I can say is, it is by far and away the hottest looking racquet out.. And the build quality is Lexus like... If looks are everything to you, forget the xp dual cores and find urself an x-series

they were truly beautiful frames. one thing i never understood with them was why they went to dual core right as the x-series seemed to be generating some buzz...

i liked the dual series as well, but the x was by far better looking...

all for marketing purposes to sell more racquets.

Thos x blues were so nice. I hated the 94 for some reason but the 99 blue is still on my list of something to pick up. The platinum 99 plays really sweet.

pic of the white stripes?

niiiiice yea same way here. ive actually been playing the blue 99 with the leather grip with a few overgrips on it and the 5g cap in the bottom. threw the white strips in the sides for nice color effect. loving it

Do you a pic??

My friends also commented the same thing. They want Donnay to make all-black racquets. And some said they should make racquets in more vintage style. Here is the picture of plain black racquets. Feel free to photoshop it in the way you like. May be one day Donnay will make racquets based on your design :)

And here is my take. I want Donnay racquet to have Borg Pro look.

I tried a few of the Donnay's and originally they felt great. However, after using them a few days I started getting some wrist pain. Never had wrist pain except when I use the Babolat racquets. The Donnay's look nice but just, for me, were not as nice to play with.

Igbalfa - I see you are on the Gold 94. Would you care to tell us how you came to choose that frame? Did you come from other mids? Why did you change?

originally i was using the pacific x-feel pro 95 but that racquet just felt very sluggish.

i knew that i wanted something much more maneuverable.

i had a chance to demo the gold 94 and immediately fell in love with it.

the thin beam is something you either love or hate and i think by today's modern game, most people just don't like it but for me it felt right for me.

i purchased 3 of them and just recently i purchased a 4th from the tennis warehouse used section since they are so cheap now.

i am kind of afraid donnay won't be around much longer so i stocked up on the grommets / bumper guards.

to be honest, i personally can't tell that much of a difference between a 94 and a 98. it would be minimal for me.

only modification that i did to the racquet was installed a leather grip (no overgrip).

Thought Id revive this thread as these have remained my favorite rackets i've ever hit with. It is a shame to see the state of Donnay now but I really think they had a good thing going with the original thin beam x-series. I have played with dual core and the new quad cores and I keep coming back to the x-series. The feel is just much better in my opinion. The new quad core GT felt alot stiffer and while it did look nice and have more pop the feel and thin body of the x series are superior for me and I ended up selling my Pro One GT. Same sort of experience with the dual core gold. I have become a x-series-holic. My favorite being the Dark Red 94s. Here is a picture of my current collection. My Main racket of choice is the Dark Red 94 and I have 4 of them in good condition. My next favorite is the x-blue 99 which I have two of them and use as my doubles stick. I also have a x-black 94, and a x-red 94. The softness and the thin beam of the Dark red is perfect for my game and i love the open string pattern. It seems these rackets are a thing of the past now on this forum, but is anyone else out there still using them?

i am still using my x-dual gold 94 racquets.

i have 4 of them and even stocked up on grommets (bought 30 grommets).

still one of the best racquets to this day that i have tried.

awesome, I wish i stocked up on grommets for the x dark red s when i could. Ive ordered 4 sets of x gold 94 grommets as they will fit in the dark reds, should make for a cool color combination once i use them. I probably should order more while i can.

You can talk to the CEO of Xencore if you call the number on the website. I have spoken to him several times. I wonder if Jerry knows what a following these rackets have? I have no doubt they can make more if they want to.
