Hi, Do you own, or did you play test, the new Wilson Blade SW 104 Countervail Autograph?

How is it? THANKS!!

Some TW players complain about Control & Manageability...

I own 2.
Pros:
1) solid, solid frame. Holds up well to heavy shots
2) Great for 2HBH with longer grip and extended length. Really gets good leverage on that shot
3) Awesome RoS racket. Can really hold up to powerful serves and send them back with pace. The 18x20 stringbed on a 104 frame gives good directional control with forgiveness

Cons:
1) Offers less spin than most spin oriented frames leading to flatter shots (could be a pro for some I guess)
2) High SW puts a premium on early prep especially on FH's
3) A bit sluggish around the net unless you choke up a bit

As for control, I think it controls far better than my PD +. And its more forgiving. Far fewer frame shots. But it doesn't have the spin of my PD+. Granted, If I used poly strings that issue would likely go away but with TE issues I'm sticking with multis these days.

Have you tried softer (co)Poly on Mains (better) or Cross, Hybrid with Multi or Syn Gut on the opposite?

I get TE but hybrid cheap Natural Gut on the mains and soft (co)Poly on cross which usually relieves TE.

PS >>> did you pay full price around ~$250 each? THANKS!!

I got one as a used demo for $140 CDN and the other for $220 CDN which i was happy with.

Someday I will brave going back to gut/poly but for now I'm sticking with multis until my TE gets closer to normal. I developed TE playing with gut/poly on a PD+, so I've been loathe to try it again. Elbows just starting to feel better so I'm probably a few more months from going that route again. My fav stringbed is Tonic +/4G soft.

I've been testing the SW 104 for the last month. I had thought the 28 inch length would be a problem but it largely hasn't been. Wilson have done a great job with the weight and balance such that you don't, for the most part, notice the difference. The result is that it is a surprisingly good stick. It shines on serve, on the 2HBH, and on FH when prep is early enough. Where i lose out a little is on reaction flick shots, and on some volleys (albeit it is pretty solid on routine volleys). I've been concentrating on it for doubles and i'd say i am 85% happy with it in that arena.

Wilson finally decided to get rid of that 18x19 pattern on the SW104 and decided with 18x20. That sounds nice.
