nike shoe defect- a question?

I am three months in on a pair of zoom cages. I will probably burn through the midsole and be ready to send them in for the warranty in another 2-3 weeks, possibly a month or two since the winter weather has curtailed regular play. i looked at the underside yesterday and found two large cracks in the hard plastic between the forefoot and heel of the left foot and one on the right. I have had a dozen of these over the years and never had this happen. If i hadn't looked i would not have known... so it doesn't affect the feel of the shoe on the court.. what does nike do as far as defects are concerned? do they refund your purchase or do they procure a new pair? will this new pair have the same 6 month warranty on the sole? thanks, never had a defective product before...so would appreciate anyone who could answer my questions.. happy new year and bring on Australia!!!

sent in my air max cages for defect warranty. they sent me a voucher for the msrp. any shoe purchased with a voucher does not have the outsole warranty.

I would check with whomever you purchased them from first and not Nike directly. A few years back, I went through four pairs of courtballistic 4.3's for numerous reasons as the air bubble popping, and the lacing system tearing out. They replaced all four pairs but it was somewhat of a struggle.

One of those pairs came with the six month warranty card which I ended up using again for another pair. I wasn't trying to work the system, just sending back a defective shoe.

If you know for a fact you will burn the outsole, I wouldn't even bother.

i went to the nike store i bought them from... they didn't have any zoom cages..so they offered to refund my purchase.. only thing, is i bought them for $40. So I will just wear them for a few more weeks and send them in for the outsole durability warranty.. where i will get a voucher for full retail replacement value. I played in them today.. the cracks are less of an issue than the fact they are newly completely bald. The guy at the store said he never saw this particular issue before.. which i believe, as they only carry tennis shoes quite infrequently. [lame] the only time i get shoes at either nike store i shop at..is on the back wall on clearance. 50 basketball models in stock..100 running shoes.. no tennis.

I do not play in Nike Lunars anymore once they get bald (afraid of getting injured due to slippage) and a store like TW will replace them for you, under their own warranty.

i have been pretty happy playing the voucher game with nike... but, i agree..it takes quite a few hours of play to go from bald to completely worn through. and i am not a kid anymore by a long shot. i think i will start shopping the happy hour deals here on tennis warehouse moving forward..
