No break between last RR match and SF? This is not a professional tournament.

They have a day-off between each RR match, and then no break when it matters most.....gifting Group B a massive advantage.
So whoever plays on Day One is exactly who the organizers want to win the tournament.
The fix was in from the very beginning :)

I'm sure you didn't complain when Nadal had a long rest before Rome final and Djokovic was slugging out in the 2nd SF in the night match.
Never understood the complaining. Djokovic should have never been in Rome final this year. (he wouldn't be there if Del Potro wasn't such a pathetic choker)

That discussion is not relevant to the OP.
JMDP choked no doubt about it but Djokovic got less rest.

Since Djokovics win in 2011 no one has won Rome after playing the night SF

What is this logic lol. Nadal would be sitting on one non-clay slam if nobody choked or played subpar against him

That's the nature of this sport. The season lasts practically 11 months. They have to squeeze in 4 slams, 9 masters, many 500 and 250, LC, DC, ATP Cup, ATP Finals, next year Olympics. So the timeline is tight. Show me one event where the schedule is perfectly equal and fair for all players.

Well, it's your fault that you support a guy that free market doesn't favour, nobody is forcing you to not back the winner. Tennis is still a business first and sport second. Plus, if you really cared why don't you boycott it, so they will be forced to give equality.

It would have been more fair if Group A had played its 2nd and 3rd matches on back-to-back days, then both sides get a day-off before the SF :)
Or if they were willing to start the tournament earlier, so it would be like the Australian Open where one side of the draw gets a 2-day break and the other side gets a 1-day break.

Because you believe every close match Nadal ever won was a choke from his opponent. Doesn't mean it's actually true.
All players choke, champions just choke less, so it's kind of true. It's semantics really, they choked more or he choked less, person who makes less mistakes wins.

It's weird, people who have all the luck complain the most. Your guy won 19 majors and you complain it's not fair? I don't see Delpo fans complain how unfair things are for him cuz of injuries and scheduling and fan bias. It's real life too, usually middle class is complaining the most, the poorest are quiet all the time.

It didn't impact Rafa, since he's not in the SF :)
I'm complaining for Tsitsipas (whom I don't like, by the way)....
The format is bad, regardless of who the players are.
If anything my idea would hurt Rafa, because he'd have had to play Medvedev and Tsitsipas on back-to-back days.

Be thankful Fed gave the No 1 ranking to Rafa.

VB has no business to follow this exho.
I was never convinced that Djokovic would win the SF and Final, so I never viewed the Federer-Djokovic RR match as a big deal :)

Just one more silly thing about the WTFExo...

This event is a mess. And nobody at the ATP is doing anything to fix it.

But what about being fair for Thiem?

Well, why are you singling out the WTF?

Didn't Djoko in Rome this year have less time to recover because he played in the evening while Rafa played at day time?

Rome is not a professional tournament for that.

He gets to play at night which gives him less time to recover for the final.

I don't compare an evening match to a completely different day :)
Playing in the evening compared to playing a day session is not something I've ever complained about....

Djokovic cries in defeat at the Olympics, so its quite the opposite of ATP Finals :)
The Olympics is a joke, and one of the reasons is that some players would give their left arm to win it, while others gladly skip it.

When it comes to slams, they all wanna win one. Or 30.

The Olympics is about patriotism, and patriotism greatly varies from player to player hence the motivation varies too.

They killed the Davis Cup which is patriotic yet they kept the Olympics. It makes zero sense.

But it is equally unfair.
We'll I've never complained when Rafa's played night matches, so I don't see it as unfair :)
I guess because Rafa plays a large portion of his matches at night, so its normal.

It can be unfair because the guy who plays a long match at night is put at a disadvantage compared to the guy who finishes at day time.

Well if someone has a problem with that, they are free to complain :)
