NoBadMojo-Gen II vs. C10 Pro Tour

I am a casual poster, avid reader of these boards. I look forward to your insights on racquets and techniques. I'm an old guy (like you), sneaking up on 50.
A couple of years ago i bought a couple of C10 Pro Tours, modified the grip to something shaped between Volkl and Wilson.
I also have a C10 Pro but don't like the feel of it as much as the other two.

I've tried to migrate to other racquets in the last year or so because of the (non)availability of the C10 Pro Tour.

You made the switch to the Gen II version in the Volkl line. Could you tell me what differences I can expect in feel, elbow comfort, etc.

This information may have been posted before. If it has and you have a link that will be fine. I sure don't want to incur the wrath of anyone on these boards about not doing a search.

No matter how hard I try to change, those C10 PT's just keep drawing me back. The feel and control are second to none.

Thank you.

tcJackson my migration path has been c8pro--->t10mpGen1---->t10mpVE. I spent alot of time with the Gen2 and really none with your C10PT's..The Gen2 is really nice I think..May work for you since you specify control and feel...give one a try. Also the T10VEMid may be a good demo candidate as well and it's a very controllable frame with lots of feel. Sorry I cant be of more help.

this isnt really exactly in my area of expertise but i can be of some help i think....i have played with the tour ten gen 2 and with the c10 pro. i was not really a fan of the c10 as i didnt think it had great control and had a little too much power for me. i liked the tour ten gen 2 ALOT on volleys as it was probably the best volleying stick i have ever used. i didnt like the feel on groundies though as i thought it kinda produced a light ball, not as heavy as something like the tour 10 ve mid for example. but either way a very good stick...

Bailed Out by the C10 two weeks in a row:
I picked up a C10 Pro 3 weks ago used on TW as a backup racket as I'm trying to find a new frame. Switching from Fischer PN1 due to GE. Last Saturday in our ALTA doubles match (4.5) i started the match with a Ki5. Frame goes South on me in the 3rd set, down 1-3. Throw it in the bag in disgust and win 5 games in a row with the C10. This week i start the match with the Tour9VE. It goes South in the second set at 0-2. Switch to the C10 and win the next 6 games to close out the match. I think the C10 is trying to tell me something. I'm not in love with the feel and it doesn't give you any "free" shots or points but it produces results and i know what the frame is going to do on every swing. Going to put it in the starting lineup next match!

How does the C10 Pro Tour play different from the Pro?

OP is asking me (us) about comparing the C10ProTour not the C10Pro which he states he has hit with already and doesnt like

i've found the t10genII to be more forgiving than the C10PT. The 93 head and small sweetspot on the C10PT make it a very demanding racquet. i could get good results with full swings on groundies but blocked return of serves went nowhere. volleys were ok but nothing great.

the t10GII, on the other hand, is a little easier to swing, little more power due to bigger sweetspot, and one of the best serving sticks i have hit with.

in terms of elbow comfort, the t10GII has the typical Volkl flexiness and solidness so don't think TE would be an issue with these frames. Only Volkl to give me hint of trouble was the Tour 8 of 2/3 years ago (the stiff, extended length, black and red one).

Thanks to everyone who have responded so far. Richie Rich- your comparison is what I was looking for. I may have to demo one of these sticks. I, for one, really like the 93" size. Absolutely no twisting on off center shots.

Man, once you feel that "Volkl feel", it's SO HARD to switch to a normal feeling racquet.

know what you mean - it was tough to find a replacement for my C10PT 93 as they were 16x19 and the Tour 10 GI and VEmid are 18x20. there might be a touch more flex in the upper hoop of the Gen II over the C10PT but demo it anyway - you'll probably like it.

The C10 Pro Tour has an extremely high swingweight, doesn't it?

You'd have to add a bunch of weight to one of the current racquets to achieve anything close to the Pro Tour's weight/swingweight.

I believe the swingweight is around 342. It seems a little hefty at first pickup but really swings quite nicely. The term "plow through" has been used to describe how the racquet makes contact with the ball.

Another way to describe it is the racquet maintains the swing path upon contacting the ball. Even if you don't hit the ball squarely the racquet rarely will twist.

The Volkl feel is very unique, and this particular model is even "unique(r)!!!

I sure wish this frame was brought back from the dead by Volkl. Call it something else. Give it a new paint job. Keep the specs the same.

I'll take 3 please.
