Nobody that's as fun to watch as Federer

Ok I'll admit I'm a huge fan. Recently watched a few of his matches, and I'd forgotten the variety and the interesting tennis he played. It was so fun to watch all the different ways he played, different shots, different tactics, attacking. I really find few other current players as compelling too watch.

How short my tennis memory is... Or am I being overly nostalgic?

Nope. Man Federer was an absolute beauty to watch, especially in his pomp. No better must-watch TV imo

You aren’t wrong!

I watched some Fed tennis a few weeks ago.

Very bittersweet.

I almost felt like I was watching a different sport from the same old overwhelmingly baseline to baseline game most play.

He was a once in a lifetime player.

Miss his tennis! And Rafa’s. Which had become much more aggressive in the last few years.

Ok this is one time the “similar threads” tab should have been looked at before making another one of these threads.

OK, but current pros should entertain us better.

This part of the season is anyways boring with no upcoming slam in the year.

Federer has long retired and was entertaining, but I tend to watch more of monfilis than Federer highlights if we go by entertainment. :)

Fed, nadal, wawrinka(when he turned into top gear in slams), alcaraz are all fun to watch .
There are a few "inconsistent artists" like musetti. The effortless power generated by sinner is good, although his front court game is limited. Probably a few other lesser known players have entertaining games.

But yeah a lot of boring bots with mechanical games that won't make you tune in to watch.

Some of the reasons that I’ve realized that I have for enjoying his game are the lack of grunting/moaning/shrieking with a ball strike, the lack of facial contortion at impact, and the general relaxed body posturing with his stroke, all of which appear to be more or less prevalent respectively in his peers as the years go on. Perhaps these reasons are why I enjoyed Borg, Graf, Edberg, Pistol and Stan also. But Fed’s facial expression makes him seems just to not even care what’s going on. Looks like he’s thinking about his kids laundry, in the moment. Remarkable.

I loved watching Federer play tennis, it was like watching a magician waving about his Wilson wand.
Surprisingly I enjoyed watching him the most on clay. You got to see him construct longer points and hit more of his beautiful strokes, and it always seemed like they had a bit more flair, maybe because he was brushing up more to get more topspin. Plus his white shoes somehow seemed to NEVER got dirty. Figure that one out.
