Novak's race to Federer's amazing 310 weeks started with Wimbledon 2019... Will he get this one at this time next year?

Surely, but i think he was talking about weeks no1, not slams... Maybe i am wrong... And i wrote that record is inevitable to be broken, not slams... About slams its over 50% chance, even bookies say so...

Possibly you are right, but the way it is looking, with Djokovic likely having more weeks at number one, more year end number ones, and a good chance of most slams, he will end up as GOAT. I think many will put him above Nadal, should he win this USO, because he will more than likely equal Sampras with six year end number ones and massive amount more weeks, and with the AO coming after that, he will be in pole position to make the assault on the big prize, toppling the guy at the top, Federer. It is likely that even if Nadal gets more slams than Federer, he won't ever get to be the top guy, because of the other metrics that will pass from Federer to Djokovic.

Djokovic is challenging Federer for slams, weeks at number one, most year ending number ones - the three things that made Sampras the guy first, the three things Federer targeted from him, and now Djokovic is targeting from Federer.

Djokovic likely to be pushing Nadal into third place at the rate he is going if he defends the USO. That will make Djokovic the closest he has been to the biggest prize, of getting to Federer.
To me, they're all GOATs, such as this is a thing, and will all end up with achievements that nobody else can match...at least for now. I know you're a fair-minded fan, as I also am. In fairness, I would say that Novak has been "getting to" Fed for many years, but Roger had an almost six-year headstart on achievements and even a longer reign as mythical GOAT . I expect Novak to end up with more YE#1s, and possibly more weeks at #1. More majors? This can go either way...and I'm not convinced that Roger has maxed out at 20. Meanwhile, Rafa is right there with both of them...

To me, in reality, none of them are GOATs, but they are among the greatest to ever play. Comparing eras in this sport brings up a lot of questions which I am sure you are aware of, but these three can certainly be seen at the greatest of their own era. Honestly, none of us know how their final tally will end.

I speak w him a lot. Yesterday during Novak match for example, but was such a chilled match it wasnt much tennis talk :p If everything goes right we will meet in the winter as well, he wants to ski and that I can provide that here in winter wonderland. Last AO he was the nicest ever, talked me through that horrid final (from a Rafa fan perspective). Got to be a nice person to be able to do something like that as I wasnt at my finest:X3: It was the first time in my life I felt someone actually calming me down in tense sports moment, and even from a "rival". But of course our contact has evolved since then, the tennis part isnt that important anymore. But I do get happy when Novak wins something big as I know he is happy! Not sure how much tennis we will be able to watch though :p:love:
It does feel like a good omen everything.

Jepp. Many good people been banned.
I am so glad for you both. :) He knows how you felt since he is in our shoes and most important thing - cares for you. And I believe you will have fantastic time, in such moments it doesn't matter where are you both as long as you are there together.
If this isn't a story I don't know what is. :D Feels so romantic.

Without Novak this would never had happened, thats nice to think about. If I didnt meet Novak in that restaurant, I would maybe still be a Novak hater deluxe. And I probably wouldnt have had this communication with 125. I can also thank my friends that run that restaurant that Novak likes to go as well. If some of us from TTW ever have a meeting, that London/Wimbledon restaurant would be a great place to meet. Maybe even during Wimbledon next year when he takes the weeks. London is a place easy to travel to from all over the world, and Ive lived in Wimbledon, I know the good spots where things happening there;)

I have warmed up to Novak a lot, but still Rafa number 1 for me though, no matter what :giggle: 125 has many similarities to Rafa too, similar personality and looks. While I am more of a green eyed health obsessed villain like Novak lol It is romantic indeed, opposites attract!
You are giving Novak too much credit  it was you who is kind and open to different perspectives. Ok, I am giving you both the credit for warming up for him ;)
It is sad though how we all are drifted from each other just bcs our favs are having some battles in sport. People can learn so much from your example. And that restaurant proposal is a great idea, I hope it can be done with perspective to become regular thing. :) Wish I can hear again that story about you facing Djokovic, seems like I've missed it if you were speaking about it long time ago.

Agreed. It's hard enough just to compare all the OE candidates, though I've arrived at the conclusion that the Big 3 top any OE list. But yeah, when you throw in Laver, Rosewall, Gonzales and those who preceded them, there are far too many variables. My working GOAT definition is "greatest of the OE until now". Still not foolproof, though not quite as problematic.

I know the owners of this restaurant which is a classic restaurant in London. I’ve got Italian name and they are too, and you know how Italians take care of each other. That restaurant became like my second home. Since that restaurant so old it’s also a place many players go to including ATP officials and such. The owner is a good friend of Becker. I dreaded I might meet both Novak and Becker there cause I’ve been so nasty towards Novak online, I was embarrassed too. I was trying to avoid that to happen and nervous to go to that restaurant during championships.
And so it happened, the restaurant arranged Italy England (it was WC) on a screen in the backyard for invited. A lot of people, and guess who came to that? Becker and Novak. And since the owner is my friend I ended at the same table. I chucked down some wine and womaned up. It went fine and it was a lovely evening! It only took me about 1 minute to get over my shame and understand he is really just a good man that wants to win tennis matches lol Not more complicated than that :p I was Forza Italia of course and Novak also like Italy. That restaurant is a place Novak goes to, it has gluten free foods for him. Becker and Novak left before I did and that’s good as I got quite wasted in the end, broke my finger in the celebration.

Lucky us, you might ended in Fed's or Rafa's restaurant and we would have completely different you :p
So nice story darling. I think things are happening to us for a reason, whether it is us or some coincidences mixed bit in. When you broke your finger, I hope it didn't ruined your day and overall experience. And I really hope nice things aren't happening with personal sacrifices too
Thank you for telling story again. I really needed that. :)

I didn’t understand I broke my finger until 2 days later :p When it happened I just took some ibuprofen and another drink. I’ve got high pain levels after having dealing w injuries long time.
I know where Rafa and the Spanish goes out, a place in Chelsea, but I don’t stalk him there :giggle: Its not really that important to me. And I wouldn’t know what to say lol. I had the chance a couple of times but Rafa is quite popular and I don’t want to bother him, can also sense he is a bit reserved.

You are real fan Ghost, I am just a tourist compared to you :) So full of info.
As for pain... I am afraid of it, but did surprise myself couple of times. 2 to be exact :)

On topic anyone who doesnt think Novak is getting this particular record is delusional. No way he is losing #1 before Wimbledon next year.

I’m not caring about the goat debate until they retire just want Djokovic to add to his legacy with a cinci title and USO then YE1 and see where we go from there.

125downthemiddle is an incredible human being on every level. A sensitive, positive, and fair minded person. His being banned is an absolute disgrace.
I know. Everyone that made that happen is not a friend of mine to say it lightly. He is doing well though and I am so glad I got connected w him in this place :love::love: Not many are like him.

There is something seriously effed up if he can be banned. He is less of a troll than 99.99999% of the people here. Some people have a screwed up agenda. I guess he wasnt a fan of the right person or friends with the right people. He is someone every fan base should have no problem with.

New update!
Novak's Race list to immortality:

Novak Djokovic 2360
Rafael Nadal 1720
Daniil Medvedev 1690
Roger Federer 1290
Kei Nishikori 380
Alexander Zverev 200
Félix Auger-Aliassime 190
Dominic Thiem 190
Stefanos Tsitsipas 20

Tournaments: Wimbledon, Canada, Cincinnati, USO...

Cincinnati is over.... Will Medvedev be The One to keep Rogers record safe for dome time? He had the biggest jump on list with new 1000 points.... Novak added important 360 points too...

I think the only thing stopping him from breaking that record in 2020 is an early injury that keeps him out of slams. And even if he doesn't have it after next year's Wimbledon even if he plays fulltime, he'll be so close that he'll get it soon after. Nobody is close to him right now and he will hold at least the points from one slam title for another year. So he only needs decent results for most of the next 52 weeks to maintain it.

Covid-19: hold my beer

This question still comes up?

It is like walking the walk of shame for the men's tennis tour right now.
