I have recently added to my small collection, and thought I would review the racquet after the first 3 hour session. If things drastically change after a few weeks of playing, I will revise with a new review.

Wilson nSix-One Tour 90 Review

Design & Comfort 9.5/10

This racquet has a very classy look. The red and white combo with just enough black and silver really creates an "all-business" appearance. Despite the negative talk about the quality of Wilson frames, this racquet oozes quality. The leather grip is very durable and comfortable (if you like leather). The shape of Wilson grips are definitely one of my all time favorites, very easy to feel where you are on the handle.

Overall - One of the nicest looking frames ever created in my opinion. I am a huge fan of leather grips from the factory, saves me from having to wrap my own.

Groundstrokes 8.5/10
I am very impressed with the playability of this racquet. My forehands were heavier than ever, and I was able to control most points. The 12.4 ounces allowed me to take long, smooth strokes and let the racquet do the majority of the work. Occasionally, I would speed my swing up and rip winners down the line with pinpoint accuracy. The power level feels somewhere between my PS Tour 90 and my RDS001 MP. It didn't take much effort to keep my opponent pinned deep.
Once again, the accuracy stood out on my backhands. I found that the nSix-One suited my one-handed style better than any racquet I have tried. (That's right, even better than my beloved RDS)
The only negative I found on groundstrokes was the muted feel that I experienced when returning heavy serves. I assume this is due to the nCode technology. It did not affect my game, just was annoying.

Overall - Incredible from anywhere on the court. The weight will cause some to get tired sooner, but stay with it and let the racquet work for you. I left a little room for improvement on my score.

Volleys 7.5/10
Expected a lot more in this area. The racquet just didn't feel very maneuverable at the net. It played very similar to the PS Tour 90, but slightly better. When I was able to get the racquet head in the right place on volleys, the result was amazing. The placement was perfect. This is another place that the muted feel somewhat annoyed me.

Overall - Maybe some lead in the butt will make this racquet more maneuverable. I will let everyone know when I have time to experiment. I have yet to find a racquet that volleys better than the RDS001 MP.

Serves 8/10
I am very pleased with the serving ability of the nSix-One. Once I relaxed I was serving-up some serious flat bombs. The accuracy is astonishing! My second serve lacks the kick that I need, but was enough to be effective. Spin was decent, nothing like some of the others I have tried. I believe with a little more time, this could become one of my favorite serving sticks.

Overall - Really happy with my first serve, will take some tweaking to fix my second. Maybe the lead in the butt will improve this area as well.

Final Thought
I was expecting a lot less than what I got. I know that many will steer clear of the nSix-One due to the fear of being so demanding, but you need to give it a demo. The key is to let the weight of the racquet do the majority of the work, and let yourself concentrate on technique. This racquet is nowhere near as demanding as my PS Tour 90. I believe it falls between my RDS and my PS Tour, and that is exactly what I wanted. I am looking forward to hitting a kSix-One Tour when it comes out.

Total Score 8.4/10

WOW another great review. One question though you said its in between your ps tour and rds 001 mp for power, which one has more the rds or ps?
edit: nice pics too!

I always though it was kinda uncomfortable to play, to muted for me. Although the demo was strung with, and I kid you not, Prince Tournament Nylon at 36, strung one piece, crosses bottom to top.

Haha....that's terrible!! No wonder it was uncomfortable.

once again great review. Before reading it I would never have thought about trying the racket, hearing of its boulder-like weight, terrible manuverability and stiffness. But your review makes me want to try it, but do you think it is a realistic racket for a 4.0-4.5 player? What level are you, you must be at least a 5.0 for being able to play wel with this racket for 3 hours and not injuring yourself?

I'd probably love the PS Tour 90 though, or the PS 85.

The PS Tour 90 is the best racquet I have ever hit with on return of serves. Incredibly stable, but it is very sluggish. That is what I like about the n6.1, it feels similar, but not quite as sluggish.

How muted is it, weight is not a problem with my massive right arm, which is now much bigger than my left. :(

It is really not that bad. I believe after a few more outings I will hardly notice it. I believe it stood out today because I am so fond of the "Crisp" feeling of the RDS and TF320.

So its kinda muted? Do you know if it's less, or more, muted than the Ncode?

Assuming you are talking about all of the other Wilsons (like the n6, n1, etc) I have never hit with any of those. The only other modern Wilson I have tried was the nBlade.

Nice review! By the way, what string is that in there?

It is Wilson Sensation 17 @ 58lbs. By the way, I got this racquet from Rafaello. If you ever have the chance to deal with him.....I highly recommend it. He is awesome!! (shameless plug)

can you guys look at the pictures of the condition of the Asian n90 at this link:
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/warren22432/album?.dir=/e0e2scd&.src=ph&.tok=phqUuJGBHvvfT9it

the seller claims it is in good condition except the paint at the top. but it seems to be like it had a lot of contact with the ground at the top.

do u think it is worth buying this racket? thanks. :)

Condition looks fine to me, but you need to be sure it is not a fake. If he could show you the inside of the buttcap that would be great.

Will you re-string? What will you use and at what tension?

Nice review... i will be at my pro-shop tomorrow and i am now salivating, i will demo it. Probably next to the RDS 001.

i don't think he will do that.

what about the hologram sticker? Can it be trusted? I am also afraid if it is a knockoff.

I am either going to restring with X-One Biphase or try out some Natural Gut/ I used to use Tonic Natural and forgot what it felt like. I think this racquet would suit it nice. I will probably go with a little lower tension, maybe 52-55

I was thinking 55 or less... wow, nat gut! Classic! Leather grip/Natural Gut...beauty! I'm stoked and i don't even have one!;)

The seller hasn't returned my email with pictures on the other side of the throat with holograms. and the pictures he gave me, i posted earlier, also did not show the holograms. and surprisingly he took the pictures of the racket on 2 sides, but both from the same direction.
it could be another fake.

Sounds kinda shady. I would definitely want to see all of it before I would do it.

hmm. he sent the hologram photo to me. it is blurry, so I can't read the serial number clearly. Now it looks more like genuine with the hologram.

if you can read the number, you can email it to Wilson and they will tell you when and where it was made... i did this once and they got back to me in less than 48hrs!

Kinda late trying the racquet, aren't ya!

For added power without loss of maneuverability, try wrapping a pack of gamma lead tape (about 18 gr) to top of the grip area (underneath the leather or overwrap). Do not counterwt by placing the lead at the butt! Racquet works great with T X1 Bphase. Keep playing with the racquet for another two months or so...your volleys will get better in short order...then revise or just post another review...

I see many posts from people who have demo'd n61 racquets using the "muted" term to describe the feel of these racquets, but that just isn't accurate to me. With the nCode, ALL the feedback from the ball impacting the stringbed that would be needed for accurate hitting is still there. It's just not as JARRING as say Wilson's older Hypercarbon models. To me, better terms would be "more comfortable" or "smooth" with less impact shock and residual vibration.

I agree, ive never thought my ncodes are muted even compared to other 90sq inch models. I didnt like the PS 85 so it minght just be i am used to more modern rackets. I really think it has great feel and i dont understand how someone can say it is muted.

That is just the initial feeling I had, but like I said it did not affect the wonderful playing ability of the racquet. I admit it is probably due to the fact that I am accustomed to the "crisp" feel of the RDS001. That is also why I plan to do another review after several weeks of hitting.

I see from the pics you posted, that you use a dampener. If you take it off, that muted feel decreases. Took me a while to adjust, but it payedback. Great review!.

Where did you buy the racquet? I'm still surprised they still have the non-silver "W" logo above the handle instead of the silver one.

I agree. Perhaps another term would be "more stable".

My mains snapped on my n90 today during practice after the first hour. I decided to try my n6.1 18x20 which has similar mains with a softer cross (syngut). After the 2hr practice session my wrist felt sore. This is attributed to a wrist injury last year. My wrist has not gained 100% of its strength.

I use the n90 regularly anywhere from two to four hours of practice or match play. My wrist never felt sore afterwards. I believe the n90 is the most stable or comfortable racket available at least in the Wilson family.

Very nice review Jeff! Glad you got one of these, for me it's the greatest racquet ever (tired of people saying "Holy Grail")
I agree with textbook strokes, if you haven't already, try removing the dampener, seems like it would fix all the little things. Remove some weight making it more manueverable, and it would give it more "feel" and take away the muteness of the frame. Maybe try some lead at 3+9, helped my serve and volley ten fold. Good luck and thanks for the nice review!

I put some where from 10-12 grams on my n90's. Hope it straightens out the little imperfections like it did for me. Once again, good luck, I gaurantee it'll grow on you! :D

I felt this stick volleyed a little better than you gave it credit for, but you comments about the serves were dead on with my impression. The 1st serve was really nice, but maybe it was the stiffness or something that I just couldn't get the spin or kick on the 2nd serve that seemed to give me more problems. Nice review.

Thanks Steve! I plan on doing an update to the review soon. I am volleying a lot better now than at first.
