He she be used to it by now.
He can go cry a river to Baez & Lindor.
No, the cheering had nothing to do with wanting a long close match…
You beat me to that reply. The crowd has been fair tonight, certainly so considering an underdog 20-year-old American really played great, savvy tennis for a set and a half or so. I think - with the possible exception of a match versus Alcaraz (not predicting it), Novak will start getting the lion's share of the crowd support. It was one double fault in a tense game, happens to any player when the opponent has strong support.
The decline and fall of standards of civility in American public life ... sigh! ... must be social medai or whatever nonsense the young folks get up to these days.
Raul, who hasn’t left his computer keyboard in years, once again spouting off his expertise about the crowd behavior.
I mentioned in the match thread about being surprised they were being so well behaved, especially during the first two sets when they really could have gotten rude. They were more than fair tonight considering there was an American kid on the other side of the net.No, the cheering had nothing to do with wanting a long close match as Brooksby was already up one set. It was active hatred.
Little do these hapless spectators know that our Djoker only feeds off of this negative energy.
It's okay. Novak just gave the boob throw to the crowd. They ate it up.
As they should. They miss The good tennis
That’s absurd. If Medvedev double faults on championship point, the crowd should be dead quiet as Novak celebrates the calendar slam? You may cheer for your favourite player but you never ever cheer on a double fault. It is an unwritten rule. Particularly one that is chasing an historic CYGS.
Very odd. What is the appeal of this Brooksby?
The US crowd had always been cavemen and Djoker had always enjoyed taunting the crowd that does not support him. They really deserve each other. The decline and fall of standards of civility in American public life ... sigh! ... must be social medai or whatever nonsense the young folks get up to these days.
they loved his impersonations that year though....also 2009 when he was on court with Johnny Mac2007 US Open F - "Go home Novak"
Even 14 years ago people didn't like him.
As they should. They miss good tennis
Did you notice when Brooksby missed an overhead (unforced error) and Djokovic raised his arm up and tried to get the crowd to cheer? No, the cheering had nothing to do with wanting a long close match as Brooksby was already up one set. It was active hatred.

"Our Djokovic"????No, the cheering had nothing to do with wanting a long close match as Brooksby was already up one set. It was active hatred.

If this was Nadal you would not condone it. Not good for the game in general.
"Our Djokovic"????
I was there tonight and there was only cheering on double faults once or twice. About 3/4 of the crowd was cheering for Brooksby and 1/4 for Novak. Since Brooksby is American that makes sense. I overheard strangers talking to one another and saying they want Djokovic to win even though Brooksby is American - the rationale being that Brooksby has the rest of his career to achieve great things, but we will likely only ever get this chance to witness a grand slam on the men's side in our life time.
At some points, you just have ask why the crowd

Not everything is social media’s fault (but for the record, i agreed social media has a shltstain of the 21st Century).
In many other tournaments, too. Wimbledon included, I believe. Some drunkard woman just screamed at Djoker during a point. Is alcohol served in Melbourne?

Crowds in Melbourne do exactly the same thing, you just don't notice or care because they don't do it to your Novak. Some drunkard woman just screamed at Djoker during a point. Is alcohol served in Melbourne?
