Ostapenko. Why not top 5 or top 10

Whenever I see her play I feel like I am seeing some of the best tennis on the women's tour, but Ostapenko is consistently outside the top 10.
Truth be told I think she has the game to be in the top 5. What are you thoughts on why she is not ranked according to the level that she can play at ?

What's her unforced error count like? If she's winning matches by hitting winners mostly, the unforced errors could pile up. Whereas if you play pussi tennis like Djokovic you'll be more consistent.

Consistency. When she is dialed in she is tough to beat. But when she isn't, it's a lot of unforced errors.

I just found this thread
"She won because she collected my Unforced Errors"
more than 50 unforced errors is not acceptable. Wish I had found this thread before I asked the question.
Still I think she is young enough to learn to turn this trend around with the right coaching and if she can then I expect to see her with a much higher ranking.
She seems like a nightmare to coach. Have you noticed how she responds when a call is made that is against what she thinks (usually when she misses)? She is on the record as saying electronic line calling is wrong and she is right.

Her arguing with the umpire in her match against Kasatkina today was hilarious.
Anyway yeah she is extremely streaky and inconsistent, but this week in Rome it seems that she will be tough to beat.

Every match she plays, she decides to win or lose. Consistency is her issue. She stubbornly plays her high-risk ground strokes and when she is consistent, it is mesmerizing to watch. Throw in a few drop shots, more aces than DFs, and some volleys and you'd think she is a complete player. Despite her embarrassing whining to the umpire and to her box, she is mentally tough but has a tendency to give up the 2nd set when taking the first set and that puts her on the back foot. Kyrios & Penko should team up and play mixed doubles.... that would be a hoot!

When she is on, she is a joy to watch. Not many players have her kind of innate power and the ones that do all are big muscular girls. So she is unique in that sense. I do think that if she improved her fitness and dialed down her go for broke mentality by just 25%, she’d be top 10-15 easily. But these things are hard to call. Only thing we can all agree on is when she is on, she is blowing her opponent off the court.

Jelena at her best can beat anyone on the WTA tour but her problem is consistency.

I like her style, I remember at the French Open 2017 her forehand was harder than Andy Murray's!!!
