Overgrip smearing on regular grip

So I've been using Yonex supergrap for the longest time and I notice it has a tendency to smear on the regular grip when I remove it, so if I put a white overgrip over a black grip, I will see white spots from the overgrip material sticking to the black grip. It seems to get way worse with the black super grap over white synthetic grips and I was wondering if other super grap users experience this as well? Could also be the synthetic grip that is too sticky (white Babolat syntec vs. black Wilson sublime, which doesn't seem to get as much smearing), so I'm trying to figure out how to minimize this. If it's a super grap issue, is this the case for all or most overgrips? Do Wilson Pro overgrips do this as well?

I also use mostly Yonex Supergraps and Wilson Pro Overgrips, over either Yonex Tour Grip (synthetic leather, AC126EX) or Babolat natural leather, and my base grips still look like new - absolutely no smears/smudges. But anyway, I wouldn't be overly concerned - grips are easily replaceable items.

How frequently do you change overgrips, in the first place? If you leave them on the racquet too long, they may start "decomposing" from the moisture/sweat and the likelihood of smearing is obviously higher.

Also, try not to pull/stretch the overgrip excessively when wrapping it. Actually I barely pull the overgrip at all when wrapping - the unwrapped part is always on the edge of slipping through my fingers when I pull it (that's how gentle I am). That way it will retain most of the tackiness, as well as moisture and shock absorption properties.

I dont think this issue applies to leather, as with my experience, the generally stickier synthetic grips will have og residue, while leather, being less sticky will not. The only time this has happened with leather is when I bought really old rackets from the thrift store and the over grips were basically decomposing. But wiping with alcohol should usually rid of this issue.

Well said! I was just about to suggest this. I also use Yonex Supergrap overgrips. I use also rubbing alcohol to get the sticky residue off of my frame from the racquet head guard tape. Works great and dries quickly too. Just a quick tip use a cotton ball, also you don’t need to saturate with alcohol for it to be effective. Last thing stop being cheap and change your overgrips more frequently! :p

This has happened w/numerous overgrips (wilson/tourna) and doesn't bother me since I'll be putting another overgrip on. Recently I removed the original grip, replaced with leather then over wrapped the leather, very nice on a Pure Strike.
