Ryan Thacher Named Pac-10 Player Of The Week
Sophomore Ryan Thacher has been named Pac-10 Player of the Week for Apr. 12-18, as announced by Commissioner Larry Scott.

April 20, 2010

STANFORD, Calif.- Sophomore Ryan Thacher has been named Pac-10 Player of the Week for Apr. 12-18, as announced by Commissioner Larry Scott.

The honor is the first of Thacher's career and second of the season for Stanford, as Bradley Klahn captured his fourth career honor back on Feb. 2.

Thacher led the No. 7 Cardinal (18-5, 5-1 Pac-10) to sweeps over Santa Clara and San Francisco, and a 6-1 victory over rival No. 13 California to clinch a share of the Pac-10 title. It's the first time Stanford has claimed the league hardware since being crowned co-champions with UCLA in 2006.

Playing in the No. 2 singles position for the matches against Santa Clara and California, Thacher defeated the Broncos' Kyle Dandan, 2-6, 7-6(3), 1-0, and the Golden Bears' No. 95 Christoffer Konigsfeldt, 6-2, 6-3. In his match against the Dons at the No. 1 singles position, Thacher beat Thai Tu in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.

Thacher has won five singles matches in a row and is 22-7 on the year and 18-4 in duals.

In doubles play, he teamed with Klahn for a pair of victories as the duo is now 33-6 overall and 15-3 in duals, good enough for a No. 2 national ranking.

CONGRATULATIONS TO BRADLEY KLAHN AND RYAN THACHER IN GETTING TO THE SEMIS. I SMELL AN ALL STANFORD FINAL COMING UP.

.- Bradley Klahn, Ryan Thacher and Hilary Barte have worked their way into the semifinals, highlighting Friday's competition for Stanford at the Pac-10 Championships.

Klahn defeated USC's Peter Lucassen 6-3, 6-2 and will face USC's Daniel Nguyen tomorrow in the semifinals. On the opposite side of the bracket, Thacher bested UCLA's Nick Meister 6-3, 6-4 and will now square off against top-seeded Robert Farah on Saturday.

Klahn and Thacher also began defense of their doubles title, coasting past USC's team of Lucassen and Jaak Poldma 8-3.

Great news for Stanford players, 3 players in the semis (2 on the men's side and 1 in women). Thatcher has a great run and I hope he makes the final, but I think that Klahn has the edge here...

He had a good day, thats all. now that he is so tired he won't be any good in NCAA tournament. and Alex Clayton will be the champion there.
Dr., the NCAA's don't start till May 16. I'm sure he will be rested by then.

I am just going by the record from last few years. Player that won Pac-10 in april hasn't faired so well in NCAA championships. Klahn lost in the 1st round and Matt Bruch lost early in couple of years..

Your team...is so terrible.
We (USC) got a routine singles sweep, with a doubles title to top it off.
It was a nice weekend :)
