Penetration of feedback frequency, multi vs. syngut crosses

I usually use multis for my poly/multi hybrid crosses and I've been very happy with them. The feedback from the strings would usually make it to my hand and I would use a rubber band vibe damp to regulate the amount of feedback that I wanted to feel. I found that the feel of my hybrids with multi came through at a high frequency.

Last year I started having problems using Cyberflash and it led me to experiment not only with mains, but with crosses as well. My signature setup is what I'm leaving, with Cyberflash 1.25 as the main string.

One setup I tried was Cyberflash/Volkl Syngut @50/53. What I noticed about the syngut is that it seemed to block most of the feel that I'd previously gotten from the Cyberflash. The new feel was more muted and nebulous than it had been with Hexy Fiber Crosses.

Tonight, I strung the Volkl Synthetic Gut in the crosses again, this time with Volkl Cyclone mains. This was a very good match. In this case, the syngut cross didn't have as much main string to interfere with as with the Cyberflash. Where the Cyclone left off, the syngut filled in the rest nicely. And the feedback I got was of a lower frequency. It felt a little closer to a grumble compared to the multi cross buzz feeling.

Lastly, I'd like to share with you why my previous setup had such good feel. IME, Cyberflash brings a lot to the table. Very good spin, silky feel, good power, and otherwise doesn't get in the way (in poly/multi.) Hexy Fiber doesn't bring a lot. Extra spin, comfort, low power. So the Hexy Fiber allows the Cyberflash to shine through.

But I wouldn't recommend it. I found that the Cyberflash 'shining through' can be trouble for your arm. The same feedback that felt silky to me was wearing my arm out in just 1.5 hours of playing. And that feedback was of the high frequency variety that I believe is more prevalent in multi crosses when used with poly mains.

I'm just reporting on my experiences, which are limited. Does anyone else have information to share on selecting a cross string by feel or frequency?
