What do most of you honestly play more of, singles or doubles? I would think most of us on here are recreational players, and in my area most of the recreational tennis played is doubles.

Yeah, definitely depends on whether you are playing rec or comp. I like rec Singles and comp Doubles :p. But i still play a lot more singles.

It depends for me. If I'm playing tournaments at home during the summer, it's singles. If I'm playing team tennis (for school) it's doubles.

singles in amatuer level isnt fun to watch...
points end too early because of unforced errors or lucky winnners

Too bad we can't make it a three-dimensional poll. I suspect that the older a player is, the greater the ratio shifts from singles to doubles.

I heard Wayne Bryan say something like singles is like checkers and doubles is like chess. I would agree with him in a way. And yes the older you get the more doubles you play, but I still get my fill of singles.

I play mostly doubles (when I can get out and play). My shoulder doesn't do well if I have to serve singles. Hell, it doesn't do well if I serve doubles either.

Personally I play singles a lot more. They both have there pros and cons. Singles is a better workout and you get the ball more. Doubles is fun because it’s more of a social event and also it involves more strategy.

I play both rec doubles and singles. When I play doubles it's really relaxed and more social as we have a good laugh.

Singles with only certain friends when we want to get a good workout and challenge ourselves even further ... but it can get very tiring especially playing singles in our tropical heat in the afternoons for 2-3 hours.

Bingo! Net Forums are significantly weighted to younger players...

Singles! (I'm 19, btw) I hate playing netman in doubles, I keep losing my concentration when the other baseline guys keep rallying and the ball doesn't even come to me!
And it's so much harder to hit winners from the baseline... too bad my volleys suck.
But doubles is fun for socializing though ;)

Right now, I'm playing more doubles because I'm coaching high school tennis and there isn't singles competition, but if we put two coaches against each other with a team member then it evens out and we can work on strategy with them. However, when I get away from coaching, I've only played one doubles match for fun as opposed to however many singles matches.
