Pound for pound: Simply the Best.

I'm fortunate enough today to be sitting around the house stringing sticks watching a day of tennis featuring Roger and Pete. Pete's win in China was wonderful to watch and I spent most of that match on the couch rather than making money stringing.

I realized during that match, that the emphasis on speed during the serve is highly overrated. I don't care that Andy has one at 155, nor that the likes of Ivo, Andy, Sam, and John can blast them away all day long in the 130's or higher. Pound for pound, or dollar for dollar--the two best servers in my mind are Roger and Pete. And, I'd take Pete's (even at the age of 36) over Roger's.

At the age of 36, Pete was out-acing Roger. As well, Pete showed even being rusty, facing the current world's #1 player, and ten years the senior--he was able to come up with the goods more often than Roger. Pete's second serve is better than Roger's.

If I could go into a store and buy any serve in the history of the game--it would have to be Pete's. And, should there be a shortage of his serves on the shelf--I'd take Roger's as a close second prior to anyone else's serve on tour.

When it comes down to critical points--Pete and Roger are head and shoulders above the rest on delivering the goods.

I agree with your assessment, although I think I might take a couple of other players' serve over Fed's.

How nice would it be if we could just purchase their serves! --- although come to think of it, Sampras' serves would probably cost 10 million bucks at least.
