sorry but he might just be benefitting from grade inflation. i find it really hard to believe that one can get As and Bs in the ap classes and not score at least a three on the exam. But then again i've lost my trust in college board ever since they lost the tests for my school.

Dude you should probably step it up for college the way Federer raises his game at the slams. I had a 5 on Calc BC, Chem, Physics C: mechanics, Physics C: elec/magnetism, German, and Stats, and a 4 in English Lang/Comp. I'm barely under a 3.7 at Michigan. And I know a few other Asians way smarter than me who didn't get in anywhere better than Michigan.

Colleges will definitely look at the grade inflation (it is obvious) but he still has a high class rank, which somewhat nullifies the benefits of inflation.

Though he does need to get that SAT up if he wants to go to a school like Stanford. Way up.

well, i mean Stanfords my dream school, and if i do not make that then ill rely on my fall backs, thats all there is to it, i would like to go to Stanford, but making it or not its hard to say

I honestly did not care what I got for Eng but I was aiming for somewhere around a 4 and I wanted a 3 for Chem but obviously I did not reach my goals. Overall I'm completely disappointed lol But OP, just try to take the SAT 1 one more time and I think you'll be fine. Got a 1830 on my first try and am planning to take it again.

Last year: AP English Lang-4, AP Spanish Lang-5
This year: AP English Lit-5, AP Spanish Lit-4

I can safely say that AP Spanish Lit is the most ridiculous/difficult class I have ever taken.

SAT: 2170, SAT II Math: 780, SAT II Chem: 720, SAT II US: 590 (retaking this one)

Weighted GPA: 4.09
Unweighted GPA: 3.79

This is as of now, which is through my Junior year. How do guys think I'll do trying to get into USC, Stanford, Pepperdine, UCSD, UCLA?

Definitely retake US history if you plan on applying to Harvard, but I'm pretty sure those schools only need 2 SAT IIs (but you need to send all your scores to Stanford or something...).

For UCLA, UCSD you are in a fairly strong position academically. Unfortunately, you are on the low end at Stanford.

For Stanford, I would recommend trying to retake that SAT once, and hopefully you can score something above 2250, preferably with a score of 750 in each subject. This is basically the highest tier colleges look at when it comes to admissions; discrepencies in scores beyond this point have more to do with curves than your actual scores. The difference between a score of 750 in every subject (2250) and someting like 2300 or 2340 is fairly negligible.

Get good 1st quarter grades if you plan on Early Action, good first semester if you are doing regular.

And then hope your ECs, essays, and recommendations are very solid.

Are you in CA? If so, go for the UC schools. They are excellent and a great value. If you're more laid back go for UCSD... if you like some action in your life and a broader experience... UCLA.

Thanks for the insight! I can either retake the SAT or the SAT II's...I have a dilemma on which one I should retake. If I retake the SAT II's, I'm doing English and US this time. The 1st quarter and semester grades should be good, I've got solid EC's (Varsity tennis, lifeguard license, other stuff), essays I'm already working on, and my recommendations should be good as well. Idk, I'm probably going to apply for Harvard, but I'm not really going to hope for much...even if I get in I probably won't go. It's more the fact that my mom wants to see if I can get in lol.

Yep, I'm in SoCal. I'm definitely going for UC's...but the only ones I'm really interested in UCLA, UCSD, and maybe UCI (since I live right by there, fallback).

Ehhh, I decided to drop it in favor of AP Art History. Programming ain't my cup of tea.

What language is the APCS test based on currently? When I took it back in 1985, it was Pascal.

Well that is just difference in the classes
At my school if you manage to get an A in Physics or Chem, then you will easily get a 5 on the AP tests. The work required in those classes makes the AP tests seem easy.

Some of my friends got Bs and Cs in those classes but still managed to get a 5 on the test

Btw if anyone wants to see if theyre likely to get in stanford...I live in that area and I have a rough idea.
your SAT 1 should be at least 2250, and school grades need to be really high as well. However, the top schools such as stanford, ivy league schools, etc, look at your extracurricular a lot

You hit the nail on the head. Some of the better school systems in the country train their AP instructors to teach what will actually be on the AP exams (content and format)... so when you take the exam, they are easy. Other school systems don't do this and the students flounder on the exam... getting 3's and below.
