Prince 03 white question

I currently play with an ncode 6.1 95 16 x 18 mostly doubles. I am looking for something a little lighter & quicker with a little more pop. Does the 03 white fit the bill? does the frame volley well. I will play with the hard grommets installed witha poly syn gut hybrid.

Can anyone who has played the 03 white comment on the racquet?

Coming from the PRTi, I had one leaded with gut hybrid/hard grommet and it was an excellent all-around stick. It volleys well, serves well and has a tremendous sweet spot. The only drawback of that frame (as well as all 03s) is the somewhat detached feel. When Prince gets the 03 feel right, they will really have something great...

I might be ok with the feel, because the ncode 6.1 95 I am currently playing is pretty dead feeling as well.

Glad to hear that it volleys well and is a good all-round racquet.

it's more head light than your N95 and not as stable at net. the volley is good if you are ready for the ball. it does need a very fast swing at baseline. very nice player racquet, just not as good as K95.

I have an O3 White, and it swings fast because of its weight and the O ports, and is head light. But it is pretty good on volleys I would say, I use it for doubles. It does have lots of pop, and if you feel like it needs more feel, don't use the soft rubber throat grommets...

Good racquet for leading. Solid, stable yet manuverable. Use some hybrid and it shoots babolat spin. Good power, decent (not pinpoint) control, good overall racquet to grow with.

good racket. O3 makes larger sweet spot and the 100 size of the White definitely has a much larger sweet spot than the N95.

Its very spinny, large sweetspot, good volley racquet but really lacks in the service department compared to your N95. The only way I can get it to serve big is to add lead at the tip and then it hurts my elbow. So I have a pair in my bag that I dont use:mad:

The N95 and O3 White are like chalk and cheese. The N95 is very control orientied and does lack a bit of power, whilst the O3 White does have some element of control with lots more power on tap.

A better way to go is to get a 98 sq in racquet that has a lower swingweight than the N95, has the same control, more maneuverable and slightly more pop using the same swing speed without balls going long. A very good racquet that fits the bill is the Dunlop M-Fil 300.

Not that I'm biased, but I came from 93 sq in Volkl Tour 10 V Engine Mids and was looking for a racquet with a lower swingweight. The MFil 300 allows me to take huge cuts at the ball on groundstrokes without fear of it going long, it is very maneuverable when getting to the ball slightly late, and works very effectively when taking the ball early on the rise. Also has good stability on volleys at the net. Best of all, with a lower swingweight, it allows you to squeeze out a bit more stamina on the court and doesn't tire you out as quickly.

thank you all for the input, i will be demoing the prince 03 white this week and will update you on my experience with it. I will also add the mfil 300 on my list to try.

i thought that the o3 white felt a little too boardy with the hard grommet and poly strings. for me, if i was stringing w/ poly, i'd prolly use the soft grommet. hard grommet had better feel, but felt better w/ multi strings. my fave setup when i used them was hard grommet + nrg2 or biphase

Yeah, i'm a recent convert to the Dunlop range, and i really like the Maxply McEnroe. I firmly believe that if it didn't have the retro paintjob that turns people off, it would be a bestseller, it plays so very well. The 300g is a lighter version in my opinion.

Go back Iscottius, back to the trusty Fischer you left behind. Pro No. 1 Is best doubles stick i have used!

I have an 03 white which is strubg with a poly 1.30mm super smash. I do not really like it. I found that there was a lot of spin produced and if you try to flatten it out it goes long. Volleys were OK. Speed around net was excellent.

it all depends on what type of player you are but just demo because you wont be wasting any money on tw except the shipping and demos are free since u pay the shipping to go to u and back.

The o3 white is optimized for faster swings from the baseline. This is exactly the wrong way to go for doubles, which features slow or no swings in the form of volleys.

The N6.1 is almost the ideal heavy weight doubles frame. Maybe the Ki15 PSE? You could also try something on the light end like a Head LM4. I'd personally avoid midweights like the o3, pure drive, etc. because despite the light weight, they tend to be pretty slow in my experience.

yeah, fischers are addicting, I was watching tennis channel french open highlights from the 90's and noticed alot of fischer players--Kafelnikov, medvedev, stich, etc.

are you playing the mspeed or the original?

i have 1 red silver pro no.1 with the 2lbs tension range 2 red black pro no.1's and 1 mspeed

my favourite is the red silver pro 1. Then the Mspeed. it has less power but is getting back to that classic Fischer feel. I only play doubles with them.

I played with the prince 03 white this weekend and did not love it. It was strung with a poly hybrid with syn gut crosses and the hard grommets. The racquet took a while to get used to. It was not as powerful as I expected, it has considerably less power than a bab pd IMO. The feel was very muted and suprisingly it volleyed very well. Flat serves were hard to keep in and kickers were very effective. Overall a good racquet, but I would not replace my ncode 6.1 95's with this stick.

I have bought and sold a ton of racquets, but I will not sell my Mspeed 98's, Eventhough I am not using them as my main stick, I just can't part with them.
