ProKennex Ki Q+ Tour Pro (315) sound

I'm demoing ProKennex Ki Q+ Tour Pro (315). When I hit or shake the racquet I feel something is moving inside. Also there is a strange sound, like there are numerous sand particles inside the frame.

Is this normal?

How distracting is it? What are your thoughts on the racquet from 'feel' and power standpoints.

I played it only for an hour vs. someone who is not very good. Power was not an issue for me, there is plenty of it. Feel is very good, especially at the net.

The sound is not the biggest problem, I think I can get used to it. The feeling of something moving inside is distracting. But I need to play more with it.

I agree, the sound and sensation of the particles is not noticeable when you've played it a little bit. I noticed it for the first couple of days switching to the Q+ Tour.

Lol, that’s the Kinetic energy Brother.

I find the current Q Tours, particularly the 325 version quite minimal in terms of hearing the kinetic beads compared to say the K series frames, particularly the lighter, wider frames.
A nicer new cosmetic update would be welcome as the current racing stripe theme is a little underwhelming. A paint job similar to the RF 97 blue laver cup edition would look sensational on a PK Q Tour 325, 315 and 300.

I have a similar question- my prince exo3 tour seems to have a defect where it’s missing grommet holes at the top and sides and instead has these weird rectangle slots. Guess I’ll just string through them and see what happens.

Yeah they've never quite nailed the designs on the Q Tours. Underwhelming pretty much sums it up.

Previous iteration was OK but a bit too much pointless text and the colour accents were a slightly odd shade of yellow.

Latest version they improved the colours IMO but I'm not a massive fan of the half gloss/half matt finish (especially as the gloss seems to catch the light in a really weird way - pretty sure it's a sticker rather than actual gloss paint) and the whole 'racing' aesthetic is a bit goofy.

Shame as the frames are legit, and really deserve a better look. Proper gloss black with a few subtle additions would be my dream! Although tbh I'll just be happy if they keep making them at all, can't imagine they're a big seller.

Switching gears, I bought a pair of the matte version (2017?) Q tour 325s to alleviate shoulder pain and they are a miracle in those regards, however I find they lack put away power. Would you recommend a stiffer full bed of poly to stiffen up this ultra flexible frame?

TBH I always equate stiffer strings with less power and I pretty much always string 18x20s in the mid 40s with full poly on the softer end of the spectrum. I currently have my 325s strung up with Tier One BK/GW at 46/44.

I've never actually found them lacking in put away power, and probably hit some of my biggest ground strokes with them, but I'll admit they don't offer much for free and your game needs to be pretty well dialed in to get the most from them in that regard.

I would recommend putting a little weight at 2 & 10, using natural gut in the mains (or all around), with a synthetic or multi in the crosses. If you go with a poly in the crosses, I'd string them around 5# lower than the gut mains.

As a low intermediate rec. player, I am currently using Prince Phantom Pro 100 (16x18, 305 gram) with multi string at 48lbs. Unfortunately I am having minor tennis elbow due to overuse and poor techniques (and late hitting). While planning to take lesson from a pro coach, I am considering PK Q+Tour Pro 315gram to play through TE. Is it a good switch ? Is it easier for power access and spin ? Thank in advance.

I've not used the 315, only the 325.

I would assume based on the weight and string pattern the 315 would be slightly more user friendly than the 325 but it wouldn't be my first choice for a low intermediate player tbh.

I've owned a couple of Phantoms and honestly you're not going to get a much more arm-friendly frame, possibly the only issue is that they tend to be quite low powered which could lead newer players to try and swing harder to generate power and this could lead to poor technique/arm issues.

A few lessons would probably be wise. Focus when hitting should be staying loose and use your body to power the swing, not your arm. Early preparation to ensure your contact point is correct and avoid hitting late. Easier said than done!

I'd also suggest starting on prehab/rehab for your elbow ASAP.

I find if you are worried about the kinetic beads in the Q Tour 315, what I have found that if you string about 52lbs or over you don’t notice is where’s under 50 lbs you can feel it.
It’s an excellent frame along with the 315.
I’m hoping they update the Q Tours next year with a new colour scheme.

60+ strong intermediate here...I play with the PK Ki Q+ Tour 300 (switched to it after PK Black Ace 300) strung at 55/53. Generate my own power and would actually like to hit with something a little heavier, but with good footwork and timing this fits the bill given shoulder surgery last year and tendency for TE, wrist issues.

Interesting, I switched to the PK Ki Q+5 Pro after I got tennis elbow from my previous racquet and now, I play with a Phantom Pro 100P. The PK is comfortable and has more access to easy power than the Phantom, but for me the spin is equal.

I am considering PK Ki Q+5 300 and Pro (315) 2021 version, but afraid of its high stiffness (65/67). Does the kinetic technology helps reduce vibration ? Have you tried Ki Q+5 300 ?
