Pure Control 95 (58 RA) opinions?

Can anyone compare with other classic flexy racquets?
Any comments on sweetspot size?

(What I would like to hear: it bends a lot and has a big sweetspot for its class..
But be honest)

I transitioned to this racquet from the PS 85, albeit in Storm Ltd guise initially. In stock form I didn't find it particularly impressive, I've always played it at 12.5 oz, balanced to match my PS 85, and strung with a gut/poly hybrid. I've never felt that it was 'flexy', but hitting with other racquets I noticed that they felt 'stiff'. There are probably any number of 95's that have a bigger sweetspot, the 18x20 pattern on this racquet is particularly dense. The sensation I've had with these isn't that they're harsh outside of the sweetspot, just no power with off center hits. If you're not a good ball striker, you probably won't like this racquet.

It's about the most "flexy" modern frame I've used. When I first started with this line it was also the Pure Storm Limited, and I added weight in the handle. When I bought the newer PC95s I have just played with them stock and they seem fine to me like that. I like the way dsb described the feel. Not stiff, but not that flexy either. I can occasionally feel the flex, but if you want something with real flex you have to go old school. I've recently bought several Pro Kennex Copper Aces, and some of the older Rossignols as well. They have fiberglass in them and you can feel these flex when you hit the ball. I really like the way they feel. I'm basically just holding onto the PC95s for the added control of the 18x20 in case I get serious again once my back fully heals and want to play tournaments. Not sure if I will need them or not, but I don't see any other nice soft thin beam frames on the market I really like, so the PC95 may be the last modern frame I own.

They have pass many years, but as I can remember this stick has really Small hoop, with small sweetspot and it is very under-powered.
I've play with some 93 sqi, which feel bigger that this... Maybe the strange shape of the hoop has to do with it.
Its commercial failure may tell something about it.
Pure Control Tour is better if it is a option and their RA (despite the value diff.) are very similar...

The hoop does have a bit of an egg shape to it, so it's kind of old school. I don't find the sweet spot to be that small, but with the 18x20 pattern and the weight it's more like the old pro staff. The sweet spot is center and lower. The upper hoop is pretty dead. As far as power goes, I have yet to find an underpowered racquet. Even with my wood frame and it's 65 sq in frame or whatever it is, I still hit winners with it. I think if you string it too tight with the wrong string, you will turn it into a board, but you could pretty much do that with any frame. This one is just going to show that sooner.

I play mine with a softer poly around 48-52 pounds and it's pretty sweet. It is a control stick though. It's not designed to surprise you with winners. It's more a paint a picture kind of stick. Very reliable and predictable.

I had the pure storm limited which is basically the same frame. it is the only good feeling babolat frame I have played. Exceptional feel and response. Small Sweet spot but incredible feedback when struck well. The PSL had a crazy low twistweight, around 10 from memory which made it unforgiving but I played it exclusively on clay without issue.

The string pattern is super dense, so the control was exceptional and I never had issues with power even in stock weight. It was designed to compete against the prestige/PT630 which made it a huge step away from the rest of babolats offerings before and since.

If you can get one for cheap, you have a powerful stroke and you like classic frames you should be able to hit some great shots with it. The only frame since that I feel is better is my current Prince 93p. It plays like a PSL on roids. only a hair less control but everything else is more balanced. The rounder head also makes for a much easier hit and easier spin as the PSL head is very narrow.

@Kevo have you played the 93P? I feel its basically an upgraded PSL with the aforementioned features. It has that same firm but flexy response of the babolat but the feel is better. I play low 30s tension and it plays super soft and control is exceptional. A mid to low 50's RA 100" 18x20 was also just launched by Prince which would be interesting. The Pro 100 was noticeably flexy but offered a modern solidity to the stroke which was interesting 54 RA from memory. Ported phantom 56 RA was crazy soft and fun to hit with.

Needs lower tension and benefits strongly from weight at 3/9. Sweet frame. I snagged two plus versions and am constantly on the lookout for more in my grip size haha

I haven't played the 93P. I've mostly been playing older 80s frames with fiberglass in them. They are the sweetest feeling frames I've ever played. Close to wood in many ways, but without the downsides. If I hadn't found an old PK Copper Ace for sale in my neighborhood I would probably want to give the 93P a shot from what people have said about it. But for now I am super happy with my old PKs and Rossignols I've picked up and don't imagine I will be buying any more modern frames any time soon. I just love that flexy feel, and I'm not sure if you can get it without the fiberglass. These old frames have RAs in the 30s and 40s. I'd be kind of shocked if a modern manufacturer released something with that kind of flex.
