Question about "real" tennis shoes.

Hey guys,

I'm playing more and more tennis these days, so I want to get a better pair of tennis shoes. I've tried a bunch - Addidas Barricade 6.0, Nike Courtballistic 3.3, Nike Breathe Cage II, etc. And one thing I find is that these shoes seem to be "tighter" on the toe area. I would describe it as though my big toe can feel the side of the shoe.

Is this normal, as I wear them and they break-in will this loosen up a bit and conform to my foot?

I don't want to buy a pair of $100 shoes, expecting them the "expand" a bit, and they never do.

I'm guessing tennis shoes are a bit snugger to prevent slippage in the shoe.

have you tried the 2k10s or 2k11(more cushioned)
they have a wider toe area than all of the shoes you tried

I just bought Courtballistic 3.3 and they fit just fine ( my size si Nike 45 EU/11 US/10 UK ).
I also bought a pair of Adidas Bercuda, I don't want to wear the same pair every time, especially when I play to wear them out that fast.

All break in. Do yourself a favor and shell out that $100-$120 dollars for a shoe. Your feet will thank you. All the lower ends arent as durable, not a good hit, not enough cushioning, etc. etc. I got Severs Disease in my heel because I refused to pay more than $70 for a new shoe. Buy a pair of Nike CB 2.3s and use these coupon codes, ustatoc10 and liqfbshoe using both of these youll pay $63 for a really good shoe. Never buy any of the Barricade Teams or the Air courts or the City courts and the Adizero Aces. These shoes are all terrible for your feet and will end up getting you a long term injury or will cost you more because you have to buy more of them. Get one with a durability guarantee, its like getting a 1 for 1 shoe deal.

What I say is think of it as buying a car for your feet. If you had a choice between a Smart Car (City Courts, etc.) that is awful in safety (cushioning) or a Nice Honda Civic, Toyota Camry or Ford Taurus (Barricade, CB etc.) that will last you a long time and wont break down on you. Which one would you take?

As someone with a wide toe spread, I'm going to disagree with these other posters. For me, if the tennis shoes are tight in the toes when I buy them, I've found they don't expand enough to become comfortable, unless you consider the little toe ripping out the side of the shoe expansion.

I don't wear Nike shoes because of the tight toe box. My current preference is Yonex.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I'm going to give the 2.3's a try.

Has anyone had the 2.3's and the 2k10's? Do they have a similar fit?

The 2.3 is somewhat different than the 2k10... 2.3 has a snug like feel like it fits perfectly on your foot and the 2k10 is just like an upgrade from the old Breathe Free
