Question for Chris

Chris, you were on both play tests for Alu Power and RS Lyon. How would you compare the two in terms of control, power, spin potential, playability duration, and comfort? I'm looking for a string that plays like Alu but lasts longer. From all that I have gathered thus far it seems like RS Lyon would fit the bill. What do you think?

Thanks

I'm a big fan of RS Lyon. For me it offers a slightly softer feel compared to ALU Power. ALU Power is crisper feeling and gets me more connected to the ball. RS Lyon on the other hand offers a softer feel that's a tad more muted but rewards with better ball pocketing. I get ample comfort from both strings but RS Lyon is likely to offer you a slightly softer feeling hit. I get great spin out of both strings. Same with the blend of power/control, both are great. I found the tension hold to be solid with RS Lyon. To compare it with ALU Power I'd have to hit them side by side, but both survive my 2 week playability minimum.

If you've not hit RS Lyon you should give it a go as it's a great playing string.

Cheers,
Chris, TW

Thanks for the response Chris.:)

Will TW be carrying the reels of this string any time soon? I see that reels are available in Europe but not here in the US.

Hello Chris have you hit with Kirschbaum pro line 2? and was it closer to RS Lyon or ALU Power in terms of feel?
Thank you

It's closer to ALU Power in feel for me. It has that crisp and very connected feel to it. I also find it to hold tension very well. Kirschbaum polys are pre-stretched at the factory so they tend to play a tad firmer/crisper and hold tension better than many. I've found them to work very well at low tensions because of those qualities. I also like Max Power, which is a tad stiffer but you can string at a lower tension to equal it out.

Cheers,
Chris, TW
