Rackets like PS Tour 90, but a tad bit softer...

Well I have been having some light problems with my elbow since i got my tour 90's, and i was just wondering if there are any rackets, that are around the same spec's, that feel a bit softer on the whole arm in general. Any recommendations welcome. :mrgreen:

the rds-001 felt pretty nice (strung with wilson nxt tour and bb alu power)
and the nsix-one felt really nice with natural gut mains
(both racquets 90")

what do you stirng the rackets with? it could have something to do w/ your string setup.

i wouldnt recommend the RDS001 or the n6.1 because they both play pretty crisp. if you dont mind an 18x20 pattern, you might want to try the PK redondos or something w/ a larger headsize..

I too had similar elbow problem with the PS Tour 90. Try some soft string. I have the Gosen Aermet 16 (something near that 'misspelling' of the name) on it at 56 and feels nice and soft. The string's not expensive. You can try going a bit higher tension to have more control.

Or, change the racket all together. You can see my current racket in my avartar. It's the 93.

Well, Current string jobs were wilson synthetic gut 16g at 57 and 60 lbs. Just broke the 60 the day before yesterday, So its open for something new. I was actually thinking about trying the redondo mid. I think i might after a few different strings.

I Couldn't seem to locate that string on TW, want to link me if they have it. Thanks.

Try a different, softer string such as NXT or nat. gut. It's a much cheapier solution.

OK, you can try this one: Dunlop Max Comfort 17. Low cost. Good multi. May stretch a bit. Available at TW.

What I use now (and most probably will ever use) is the Gamma Synthetic 17 with wearguard. Good pop and control. Soft-playing low cost synthetic - almost as soft as the Dunlop. And doesn't stretch easily. Available at TW. (I bought mine locally in 200-meter reel.)

I tell you, the Gamma string that I use is really good synthetic. Better than the Prince Original Synthetic. And chaper.

If you want to try the Redondo Mid, have you checked my post on my testing it?

Ya from the looks of it, i think im going to snag a redondo or 2. My list of possibles seem small at the moment. The Redondo mid, and the POG mid. Any others to look at?

You can also wait for the Volkl DNX10 Mid. Have you checked Mojo's review on it. It seems pretty tempting too. But the price, IMO, should be higher than the Redon due to the brand.

Well im more of an impulse buyer, once i have my money it pry will be gone quickly. Noone recomending a Pog mid? But i have read your entire thread. Sounds very promising.

why don't you try rdx500 mid. it is easier on arms rather than tour90. or you could try head fiber gel strings.

I forgot what he exactly said but I believe it was something like 60 lbs on 90 is like 65 lbs on a 100 sq. in.? Possibly string down to 55 or 53.

it has to do with the ratio of the tension to the length of the longest mains.

so if your racket has 65 lbs in a 11" long face, then it'd be close to a racket at 59 lbs with a 10" long face.



and i've found that the tour 90 plays pretty harsh high in the tension range, even with nxt. when i dropped to mid-range, it became noticably softer.

He means that tension is relative to the racquet. Sixty lbs. on a 90 sq. inch racquet will feel different (tighter AngeloDS suggests) than 60 lbs. on a 100 sq. inch racquet.

Try the Vantage 90 inch custom. Many players have reviewed them here and find them "old school" soft and I can't remember any player here with arm problems who said they gave them problems or more problems.

Well I picked up some demos today from my somewhat local proshop. Yonex ti 80 98" 16x19, and a volkl dnx 9. I hit with the yonex for 2 or 3 hours today. Tommorow i will swing the volkl for a while. Any rackets like the yonex, I was thinking the pure storm and the fischer m speed 98. Hoping to pick these up next time i go up to the shop.

If you are looking for a mid which is a little softer than the tour 90, the rdx 500 is the way to go. The rds is a lot crisper and may not offer the soft flex you look for. The fischer you talk about has a 25 mm beam - an 8 mm jump up from the tour 90. Is this what you want?

No idea really, but i think ill grab the rdx again.. Just looks to be a troublesome task of finding something i like.
