rackets similar to Graphene XT Radical Pro?

TT,

I'm looking to get a new frame soon. I'm currently playing with the Volkl Organix 10 325. This past weekend I demoed the Yonex Dr 100 and Prince Textreme Tour 100P. Both of these rackets were very nice, but I didn't feel connected. The feel was way too muted. When I took these two back, I grabbed the Graphene XT Radical Pro from the shelf for the heck of it, and WOW! What a fun frame. I've never hit with a frame with such a high SW (332). If you hit the ball clean with the Radical Pro it really packed a lot of power and a ton of control.

My question is, are there any other frames similar to the Graphene XT Radical Pro that I should demo? My priorities in a frame are: (1) Arm friendly (have had elbow and shoulder issues in the past); (2) crisp/connected feel; (3) access to spin.

Thanks in advance!

I moved from G Rad Pro to Tecnifibre TFight 315 DC. Have a crisp feel but way more comfortable than G Rad Pro. Just add some lead tape on 3&9.

The G Rad Pro ain't comfy, but perhaps your mileage varies.

The Burn 95 is a similar frame worth checking out.

I should have clarified, it wasn't as comfortable as my Volkl's or the other two frames I demoed, but I had also played tennis for 3 hours that day so I might have just been worn out.

Wait, so do you want a similar frame or a similar frame that is more comfortable?

A similar frame that is a tad more comfortable would be preferable. Sorry again for the confusion.
No worries

What you're asking for is tough... Maybe the Prince Warriors are worth a look?

Otherwise, the Volkl V-Sense 8 315 and the Wilson Ultra 97 with some lead in the hoop may be worth a look I guess

Try the new Blade 16x19 and Yonex Vcore 98 SV.

A Head rep told me to check out the Graphene Head Speed Pro. Anyone have experience with that racket?

I did and it's not a pickup and replace type of thing so I'd need a few hours to say for sure. The SP is whippy compared to the 3x Graphene Radical Pro's I play with. I use guy/multi at 56 and absolutely love the ball this thing hits. And FWIW I swing out on every shot and never break strings. Buy alas, my arm is in need of the RP Touch asap!

to me it is a little more demanding than the xt rad pro, while being no more arm friendly. it has a lot of control though, due the tight string pattern. you might not like the new touch speed pro, if you felt the prince 100P was too muted. the xt speed pro has very crisp feedback ... in fact, if you string it tautly with copoly it feels like a solid 2x4.

i DO find the xt prestige pro to be more flexy and arm-friendly than the xt rad pro ... however, it is a lower-powered and more demanding frame.

I think the PK Q+5 may be worth a look. For more power try the extended version, really clobbers the ball while remaining control orientied.

Finally just customise the more comfortable MP to the Pro's specs.

the rad MP DOES have a little more flex and comfort ... it will feel like a piece of styrofoam compared to the pro, though, absent some lead tape.

Update on my quest to replace the Graphene Rad Pro's. I've not found any racquets that swing the same. What I am finding is that I have to add weight to 12 o'clock for anything to swing in a similiar way and hit a somewhat similiar ball. For example an ai98 with 4g at the tip swings kinda the same and is way more comfortable. I can play with it, but can't serve nearly as well because now it's swing weight is too high. So I'm now trying to find something that's more in the 318-320 range and adding lead to the tip. The PS97 is another racquet that I have to add lead to the tip and again is out of my weight class. So the search goes on, Textreme 100p is up next.

In the mean time, the ai98 has made my arm feel so much better. Doesn't ache all night after a match.

If you like the Radical Pro, then you may like the Pure Aero and the Pure Aero Pro. I find these rackets very similar ; great power, great topspin, maneuverable and easy to use

the graphene pro has that hefty SW along with a semi-thick beam. somewhat unique. the pure aero is stable with a solid SW as is the dr100. but they are higher-powered ... the dr98 will be lower-powered with a lower SW and smaller sweetspot.

the speed MP feels flimsy on off-center hits and the prestige pro is a little too unforgiving, unmaneuverable, and low powered (but great SW if you can get it moving). the speed pro has too tight a pattern and too low a launch angle. poly strings hurt my elbow and multis are too trampoliny. my footwork sucks and i tend to arm the ball too often. i dont watch the ball into the strings. my kick serve befuddles 3.5s but 4.5s murder it. my back hurts

tennis sucks!

Agree with the SV 98 recommendation. It swings fast yet can really clobber the ball like the Rad Pro, but it is a bit more comfortable.
