racquet advice for a intermediate

My friend is currently playing with a Wilson Po Staff 6.6 titanium racquet(10.5 oz)that is 110 inches. He has gotten to about the 3.0 level and needs a new racquet. He is a real big guy and is way overweight. he is 6 foot 3 and about 2 60 pounds. So he is a strong guy. Obviously when he swings with any speed the ball sails long with his current racquet. He needs to get his new racquet for a very very low price, so discontinued frames are fine. Which racquets would you guys reccomend?

Well, it obviously sounds like he has enough power:) I'd recommend any racket with a smaller frame in that case

What if he can't hit the ball using a small frame, but instead throw his 260 pounds over the net at you?

Seriously, I would suggest that he saves the money on a new racquet for lessons on how to harness the power and put more topspin on his strokes.

I have never equated being 6' 3"", 260 lbs. + taking a full swing at a tennis ball resulting in balls continuously sailing long. There are quite a few tour pros that are 6' 3" or taller and they manage to take full swings at the ball and keep them inside the lines. I would tell your friend first and foremost he should probably invest in a few lessons and then demo a few racquets to see what best suits his style of play.
