Hey guys, recently i've made it my mission to give my K90 a new makeover, but theres a little problem, ive applied paint stripper 3 times now, but the white primer wont come off, i've also tried sanding with 220 grit.

Should i just leave it, or get a different grit for sanding, and yes, its my first paintjob.

I already finished my first paintjob like a week ago.. I'm just too lazy to upload and post pictures :P.

I suggest you try a more coarse grit sandpaper, and try medium steel wools. I used 60-100 grit sandpaper to take off the paint. Also, do you give your stripper about 15 minutes of "drying" until you star?

What color are you painting it? And was the k90 that beat up to the point where you had no choice or something? Sorry, but I'm just curious lol.

Yeah, 1st time was about 10-15 mins, 2nd and 3rd time was more like 20-25 mins to let it settle, planning on painting it black and gold to match my Barricade Shanghai's, and yes, i got the K90 for $50, but it was severely scratched up, I had a forum on it about a month ago. But yeah, Thanks ill go get coarser grit on the weekend.

unique pj's are awesome, I guess you need some kind of car sealant to give it the pro look. pls post pics!!!!

you would need to prime it anyway, no? I would just make sure that it is smooth and well sanded. Then paint on!

Depending on the paint stripper, I'd leave it on the racquet a lot longer than that, at least a few hours I'd say. Give it plenty of time to "eat" the paint and it won't damage the graphite underneath if you are worried.

Here is a picture of one of my k90s with the paint stripped. I used a 100 grit sandpaper > 300 grit > 500 grit > then 1000 grit with a wet sand. Then used I believe it was a 1500 or 2000 grit with a bit of paint thinner to finish off any little marks left.

Oh wow thats an amazing look even without paint, thanks for the info guys, i thought 15 mins was enough but i guess it isnt...

The white primer is OK, once you hit that region you should be more concerned with smoothing out the finish of the frame, sanding down to the bare graphite isn't REALLY necessary, but it does look nice...

I would avoid steel wool whenever possible, I'd also go no lower than a 220grit wet sand paper, but it is a lot of extra work...

Good luck!

I'll be careful with paint stripper if I were you. If the stuff gets into the graphite, it could delaminate the frame layer by layer.
