Racquetball Mounting

A friend brought me his racquetball racquet to string - a Head Intelligence 165 (i.165). I have a SAM Pro-Master stringing machine with a six-point mounting system. Due to the elongated head on this racquet and the closeness of the left side and right side grommets at the throat, I cannot seem to mount the racquet securely. Am I doing something wrong or is there some special type of mounting adapter needed?

I have strung MANY tennis racquets, but this is my first racquetball racquet. Therefore, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I understand completely. It seems like the RB world has discovered me and I can't make them stop! Actually, it's getting somewhat easier to string these beasts after many, many frustrating stringings. I've had to go to the RB manufacturers' sites to get stringing instructions for many of these weird, seemingly unnecessary stringing patterns. I'm sure the manufacturers have their reasons but these frames can get crazy! I'm finding a pretty good little niche market stringing these as I had 7 this weekend. My RB customers are at about 25%.

I have a Revo and Mark @ Alpha told me to remove one of the "pegs" that the arms travel on (on the track) and it will extend out far enough to accomodate a RB frame. After doing it, no problems. I don't know if this can help in your situation but check it out.

I hate companies that makes these racquets with extremely close grommets at the bottom that no adapter would fit if you have a 6 point mounting machine. What I did though is I have these triangle adapters that were for old neos machine; I drilled a hole so I can adapt it to my 6 point mounting machine.

Also don't you just love those eforce racquets with their insane starting and color stringing pattern. I find stringing racquetball racquets is like a puzzle and a test of your abilities to measure the right amount of string to work with.

I couldn't figure out a way to mount it securely, and I didn't want to take a chance on damaging the frame. Plus, I have several tennis racquets for clients in the queue, so...

I gave the un-strung frame back to my friend, apologized for not being able to string it for him, and am ready to move on to what I know and am good at: tennis racquets.
