RBA can win if....

He plays patient and doesn't go for too much too soon.
I think this is the problem with Djokovic's opponents when they get too trigger happy.
RBA was very patient in his last wins over Djoker this year, and I guess that's kind of his style, hence why hes had some success.
Also when I watch Djokovic, he isn't firing winners every game. A lot of his points are patient buildups, and opponents mistakes. Hes not going to fire winner after winner on grass.

Yes, this is all easier said than done for RBA, but im surprised so many people have already put Djokovic in the final. This is a guy who Djokovic doesn't ever put away easily, and they've never met on grass I believe.
RBA will go in with confidence, and it wouldn't be the biggest surprise ever if he pulls it off.

Am I alone on this?

VB getting more and more jittery. RBA is not winning. Novak will be there on Sunday. Be it Federer or Nadal.

Nothing jittery about it. It was claimed that Nadal should fear Kygrios and Querry as they've beaten him in recent times.
Theres nothing crazy to suggest that RBA can beat Djoker for a 3rd time on the bounce.

I still favour Nadal versus either of them anyway if hes in the final.

I thought you were going to say if Djokovic can't play for some reason.

Bats has no chance. What happens at a Bo3 stays at a Bo3. It's irrelevant and has nothing to do with Slam tennis. They should give Bo3 tennis a different name. Call it something else and keep separate records.

It's not impossible for RBA to win, given he's done it before. But that wasn't at a slam, nor on grass. Djokovic is in very good form at the moment, and it will realistically take a sub-par Djokovic and a peaking RBA for Djokovic to lose. So it's highly unlikely, probably a less than 10% chance

Good for you. Nobody's beating Novak on these dead slow- low bouncing courts. Novak will grind and redirect with dealt precision.

Djoker will need to raise his level a tad thats for sure, but boy would it be bad for tennis if RBA is the breakthrough guy. Not to mention the poor final it will be, cause he is not doing twice.

it can't be bad for tennis.
perhaps for the ticket price for final.

But it would certainly be better if the break-through would come from someone <25 years of age

He knows how to play Djokovic. It looks ideal on paper for Djokovic to be his first big slam match. Seems that it would help with his nerves to me. He's got a small chance here. Better than most I'd say outside of Big 3.

Which is sad because it's true, and basically shows the lack of depth in the game today. Because there are many players better than RBA that would have better chances if they were in RBA's position. Delpo, Cilic, Soderling, even Kyrgios if he could make it, or a young Hewitt or Roddick going back an era or two. Not that any of them would win, they probably wouldn't, but at least they all have one or two huge weapons that could bother Novak potentially. We probably got the 4 best players we could hope for in these SFs, but the fact that one of them is RBA just makes me shake my head. It's just weak outside the Big 3, and there's been massive draw imbalance since tennis lost Murray as a top player.

We get these odd man out SF'ists. RBA, Chung, Edmund, Dimitrov (even though he played well). And the cherry on top, Anderson vs PCB after Murray screwed the draw. LAWL.

Maybe, but I think the final would be much like last years WC, and USO17. Very dull.

That's often the case, not only in tennis. Across various sports.
Once you have someone who might win for the first time a "big" & hyped title, or perhaps 2 players, the final often is a disappointment.
But then you need to decide, what is better: Djokovic + Federer + Nadal to dominate another 25 years, or have some "very dull" finals and fresh blood in the sport.

RBA could win if Djokovic plays his overly passive B game rather than his dictating A game. So far Djoker has has his A game this Wimby. People expect him to win because it would take a drop in his level for RBA to win. It could happen but it’s unlikely

Bautista is maybe the worst opponent for Djokovic on tour right now.

Semifinals couldn't be more unpredictable atm.
Unpredictable lol really ?? I’m not saying Djokovic has 0% of losing but it can’t be unpredictable if one player has a 90+ percent chance of winning

RBA might win a set, but only if Djokovic comes out sluggish or loses a step between the 1st and 2nd sets. Much like Goffin nearly took the 1st set in the QF, that's how I expect one of the sets to go. The other two should be somewhat straightforward.

Novak in 3.

I knew some wouldn't have understood.

The most unpredictable means that no other player would put up a better fight against Djokovic on grass than Bautista Agut at the moment. Even if his chances are still low.

If Murray was in form, I would say that the best semifinal would be Djokovic-Murray.

Djokovic is not a robot, and he lost enough matches this year.
It's true that BO5 is different from BO3, but RBA won 2 of their last encounters.
It's as well true that it's not gonna be easy for RBA.
But I guess the RG semi-final gives him enough hope & confidence.

I agree that he should just rally with him and make it as much of a dogfight as he possibly can. Even then, can't see RBA getting more than a set. Djokovic has a much better serve so that alone should see him have enough to dismiss RBA. It would make the Fedal match better I think if Nole was taken down, both would know that they'd take RBA down in the final.

I have to disagree here. Nadal took Djokovic to five sets at Wimbledon last year and had many break points in the 5th set. Bautista Agut has never defeated Djokovic in Slams or even take him to 5 sets.

We will see who is tougher of the 2 comparing Djokovic's matches of tomorrow and Sunday, provided that Nadal wins the SF.

I meant other than Federer and Nadal, who are in the other semi.

RBA is good enough to beat Djoker but FEDAL would just walk over him? /boggle

I think the biggest thing that can trip up Djokovic is over-confidence and I have seen him lose in the past due to this factor. Not saying it will happen tomorrow but I want Roberto to win so badly I certainly hope so! :) I really want an all Spanish final on Sunday! :)
