RDS 001 MP & RDX 500 MP...A LOT of difference?

Can anyone, who has actually played with both the Yonex RDS 001 Midplus and Yonex RDX 001 Midplus, tell me if there is a huge amount of difference between these two racquets?

I'm going to order the Pure Drive Roddick, 03 Tour MP, and 03 White demos. My fourth demo is going to be either the Pure Storm, Pure Drive Cortex, or the RDS 001 Midplus.

If the RDS 001 Midplus plays similarly to the RDX 500 Midplus (which I own), then I'll order one of the other two. I just can't get enough pop on my serve with the RDX 500 Midplus. I've read that the RDS 001 MP offers a little more power than the RDX 500 MP but I'm needing more than just a little more power on my serve.

Thanks for the input.

PS: I did a search and found a couple different ones talking about these two racquets but I thought maybe a couple more people have used them since then. Thanks.

I only have experience with the mid size of both racquets, not the MP. But with that said, I wouldn't say there's a "huge" difference, but there is definitely enough of a difference where you could feel comfortable playing with one and NOT comfortable playing with the other.

Essentially, they're 2 different racquets. In my opinion, they're definitely not "interchangeable." You will definitely see more pop on your serve with the RDS 001. But whether or not the tradeoffs in the rest of your game that come with the racquet are worth it is up to you.

My guess is that the differences in the mid versions are similar to the differences in the MP versions. But the bottom line is that you probably won't find what you're looking for until you demo the racquet.

(BTW, I was going to go "hog wild" on demos about a month ago, but ended up finding a pretty decent racquet that I felt comfortable with that my friend had. So I stopped getting demos. But that's not to say that there isn't a "better" racquet out there for me. I just decided that I found one that was "good enough" for now. Just food for thought.)

I use both alternately and I found RDS is a bit stiffer thus more power and yes my flat serves are better with RDS. I tend to use RDX for singles and RDS for doubles, but if I have to choose one, I'll use RDS cause I still can do a good spin groundstrokes with it.

I have used both too.

I prefer the extra stiffness of the RDS 001. They are fairly similar but i feel the RDS 001 was mmore suited to me. Personal preference though.

I've played with both a fair amount and own RDX 90 and 98 and RDS1 90. Demod the RDS1 98. Biggest difference will be power on the serve. RDS1 98 will be excellent pop for a "players/control" racket, more pop than either RDX. RDS will play a hare stiffer, hence a little more power, less control, less ability to produce spin/angles. So yes the RDS1 98 would be worthwhile (if easily available to you) to demo as you should see noticeable power increase on the serve compared to RDX500 98.

Yeah, what everybody else said. I'm not a particularly powerful player. Even so, I like the RDX500 MP better for my game. It's my current racquet of choice. I like spin...topspin, backspin, slice spin, screwball spin...well you get the point. I really like the spin I get using my RDX. Even though, on paper, I should get a racquet more powerful than the RDX, it works well for me. And strung with natural gut it feels oh so good.
