do you find any challenge of moving from a 98" head to a 93"? is it a more difficult frame to hit the sweet spot? I found the BB 11 mid excellent when I had all cylinders firing, but a challenge if I was tired or had lazy feet.

I didn't feel like I lost much in forgiveness. Not sure if this is because the racquet itself plays bigger than a 93, or if I was more focused knowing that I didn't have my usual margin for error.

One thing is for sure: it's so maneuverable and easy to get around compared to the Legend, Melbourne, and BB 11 MP.

Where I do feel like I have a little more room with the Legend is on slices. I love using the mass and thin beams of these frames to knife my slices aggressively. The PB 10 Mid definitely allows top notch slices; I just feel that the wider racquet face of the Legend provides noticeably more room to work with - this is probably an indication of my skill level, as I'm guessing that 5.0 players and above don't feel this difference.

I'd really love to try the Organix 10 325. It sounds like this stick provides the same attributes of the PB 10 Mid, but with more maneuverability and power than the Legend/Melbourne.

Hope this helps.

Hey Basil J,

I play with the Legend with a TW leather grip plus one overgrip. I really like 53 gut or multi in the mains and 50 textured poly in the crosses. Great plow through, feel, and topspin capacity.

As a side note, after reading through some of TennisMaverick's thoughts on the PB 10 Mid, I've been trying this lately in place of the Legend, and I have to say that I'm just loving the seemingly effortless power of the PB 10 Mid with the same string setup described above. This thing just cuts through the air so easily compared to the Legend and it allows for all of the shotmaking and feel that the Legend does.

Good luck!

Ben

Try two grams in the V-Throat and just under two grams on the bridge(cover the center 10 mains) and see if it doesn't feel less clunky.

With that being said, your precision apparently allows you to play with a 93in2. If you have a more longitudinal stroke, then you will like the PB 10 Mid's plow thru.

There is a bigger difference between the two BB 11s than there are between the PB 10 Mid and the Legend/Melbourne. But there does seem to be a threshold at 95in2, where forgiveness gives-out to visual and footwork precision, even at the highest levels.

Hey TennisMaverick - thanks for the suggestions. I'll make these modifications for my next hit. Much appreciated!

Just got done with the poly hybrid. Not loving it. Really took away all the cupping or dwell time that I enjoyed with the multi. I strung at 50# mains and 53# crosses and the multi just plain felt better. Maybe it needs to settle in. I played one set with each frame and I did not lose anything with the multi, but I lost feel with the hybrid. Next I may try some VS gut. I am hoping that I can get away from poly all together, I am just really used to it even though it's a love hate relationship.

Have you tried having the multi/gut in the mains with the poly in the crosses? I much prefer this over the other way around. Feels like I can't flatten out my shots as well when I have the poly in the mains, and I can get plenty of spin production with poly in the crosses.

I'm actually using a 15 g synthetic gut in the mains (Kirschbaum). Got it very inexpensively on a reel and am finding that it performs just as well as any other expensive multi that I've tried.

That will be what I try next. I may try the volkl cyclone/gut hybrid as well. I am hearing good things about that pre packaged hybrid.

Played a few times now with the poly hybrid set up and although it is not as comfortable as full multi, My opponents are telling me I hit a bigger heavier ball with the poly on the mains as opposed to the full multi set up. Played on clay and I struggled a bit on high backhands today. You can really feel the flex if you miss the sweet spot. I need to just keep hitting & hitting until the feel of this unique frame becomes familiar. My 1HBH is easily my best shot, and right now I am struggling a bit on controlling the depth of that shot at times. Nothing a little practice won't cure.I have ordered some of the Becker and Volkl gut/poly hybrid packaged string sets for my next string jobs. I loved gut/poly on my K6.1 and my Ki5 so I have no doubt a softer more powerful main with soft poly cross won't be a hit. They are less expensive than VS gut and I hope they perform well.

Okay, so I made some mods and retsrung with 16G vs gut @58#M/17G tourna multi 56# crosses. For some reason I lost weight when moving to the attiva pallets so I added 5 grms on the top of the grip and have 3 Grams total at 3:00 & 9:00 in the hoop.My frames with overgrip now weigh 12.2 oz strung and are 7pts HL. The ball is now coming off the string bed with great acceleration and decent spin, but with much more of that "pocketing feeling" I love with the Cap grometts. The gut shined on serve and at net providing effortless power and good control, but off the ground I was hitting a few balls long that I normally would never miss. As the workout went along I got dialed in more and really enjoyed some of the "flick shots" when spread out wide, that I was sending back deep that would have normally been dumps into the net. My backhand was working fine as was my forehand, but my opponent did tell me that my shots lacked the usual weight & spin I have with poly, but I think as I get dialed into the set up I will find my range and swings that work best with this set up. I have not tried adding weight to the throat as of yet, because I do not know what that will add to the frame, so if anyone has done that with success, I would be eager to hear your results. Because VS gut is so expensive, unless I start really playing poorly, I plan on leaving it on and appreciating it's shoulder friendly qualities as long as it lasts.

You most probably jacked-it-up too much and are losing racquet head speed for spin. Take your second stick and try this simple mod and make it play like the Melbourne:

A) 1/2 gram@12:00
B) 1.75 grams+/-@6:00, covering the center 10 mains, with no lead in-between the center two for stringing purposes.

Basil-

Saw you've got the Legends up for sale now...if you don't mind me asking, what are you moving on to?

First off let me say I really like this stick, Except for some odd reason, I just can't hit my 1HBH with any authority. It feels like there is too much flex. All my other shots are pretty solid and I have .500 record against some good players using this frame. I have 3 and am keeping one because I like it enough to hit around with, but, mentally I just do not have the confidence on my BH side that I normally do.
Right now I am testing a Dunlop 200 tour which I am finding is heavier and more solid overall. The open sting bed is something I am trying to adjust to and typically don't like, but the overall performance has been pretty good. I am 4-2 with the tour, and only really felt my first tinge of shoulder pain after a 2 hour match yesterday. I think i will either try move to the 200 tour, or just go back to my trusty Ki5's, which have no wow factor at all, but allow me pain free tennis, and I am very comfortable picking them up at anytime and playing competitively with them. I played against a melbourne wielding opponent last week and he was crushing the ball and he said that he felt the melbourne was much more solid overall than the legend, but I really can't afford a bunch of new sticks right now. i was a longtime 200G user and I want to give them another look.

Interesting.

Pain free tennis is a huge plus as is confidence. I run into that same confidence issue in most cases when I venture off to another frame. I always creep back to the stick with the highest comfort level confidence wise.

Of course, that always leads me back to the question: Is it the stick or my head telling me that it's different. Either way, it's the same result so it ultimately doesn't matter.

I appreciate the insight, after hearing how your were dialing in on these frames, it's always interesting to hear what changes when it does.

I know what you're speaking of, and that is what was fixed in the Melbourne. I would suggest that possibly .3-.5 grams at 12:00 as one last try before selling them. With the money you make, I would seriously suggest the Melbourne. The Legend does need mods to play well; the Melbourne is awesome stock.

I'm getting a lot of vibration in my Legends and wasn't expecting that from the specs. Bought 4 frames!! A leather grip and lowered string tension have not helped, the arm pain still persists. Going back to my K90's. Love the Becker bag tho.

Check-out my minimum mods in comment#214. Before my guys switched to the Melbourne, they used those mods.

Thanks for the suggestion TM. If I don't like the tour, I will give the melbourne a try. Just picking it up the other day, it felt much more solid and a little heavier than my legends.

Good luck with the Tour. I just switched to it. It was designed to be modified, just as the PB 10 Mid.

Put 2 grams at 12 and the frame played very well today. am rethinking this frame now since I played so well with it today. I may go into my round robin tourney leading with a becker tomorrow..

One of the reps who still plays, is originally from Sportsman's. I just got off the phone with him, and his Tour has 3 grams of lead at 12:00, and no other mods. His PB 10 Mids had much more on them, so that says a lot. He told me that he will drop-down to 2 grams total, to increase racquet head speed on his serve.

Tm, I am still referencing the legends. The tour I have is a dunlop 200 tour. I now have 5 grams on the handle 2 grams at 3:00 & 9:00 and 2 grams at 12:00 and the frame was producing a nice solid shot. Overall weight si 12.4 oz, 7pts HL. Volkl polym/volklgut crosses at 53#/55#. I am playing my modified legend in the tourney this afternoon.

Do you get enough ball cupping action with the hybrid?

They're holding a tourney on 9/11 and going up against the Open? Boston.....

Good afternoon today

Won both my matches 10-7. 10-3. I personally hate the 10 game pro set, but it allows you to get in matches fairly quickly. The way I have the legend set up now with the volkl Hybrid and the added weight has made this into a foerhand thumping machine.I was getting great pace, weight and spin on my shots today, especially at the baseline. The frame at times, still felt flimsy on my 1HBH, but if I really focused and stayed down on the ball, I produced some good cross court & down the line winners today. Slices were staying down and skidding nicely. I played for 3 hours straight with no soreness or arm/shoulder fatigue whatsoever. The frame begs for aggressive play, and the only times I got in trouble today, is when I backed off and hit at 60-70%. i was producing a decent shot, but i was giving my opponents something to work with, where with the Dunlop tour, 70% swings give me plenty of weight, but it is a more tiring racquet. I am rethinking staying with this frame now, since it played so well with the current string set up.

Really loving the volkl string set up. Just pounded the ball all match and earned another good win today. Only area that is a tad weak is return of big serves, the frame will twist, and the 1hbh topspin drive requires full committment or i will leave it short. otherwise, this frame has become quite fun to use. Amazing how the right string set up can change the complexion of a frame.
