Really good juniors

Could you please post some vids of pros playing as kids (<16), or other good juniors of that age? But videos where it's possible to see the points, or some length of play. If you could post some videos with single handed backhand users, even better. Thanks

Norways hope for the future, 16 year old Hedda Ødegaard (The girl in the white dress). In this highlight she plays in the final of the national championship for seniors:

And btw, TCF, you should watch this video and try to guess which player represents the American stereotype: :D

Yeah, I saw lots of kids like the boy closest to the camera at IMG. Someone's parents have to pay the bills for the sponsored kids. But the kid he is playing, Lancelot? I like his game.

But this is what bugs me. Freeze this video of him and Nadal at 19 seconds. Lancelot needs the flat pat in the slot and some more air under his arm pit. I am surprised with all the work he puts in that no coach has fixed that, especially at IMG. It really peeves me to see a kid work that hard yet be allowed to ingrain a stroke that will limit his power and spin down the road.

Ha, little Zachary is the man. Love the strokes and those little feet dancing.

Really - you love the strokes? I'm surprised as the technique is poor and you are normally (like me) an advocate of correct technique above all else. I appreciate he is only six but if there was ever a case for using low compression balls then that video is an advert for it!

cheers

Thanks for sharing! Very nice strokes, the kid is obviously very well coached. Hope he enjoys the game too. Met so many high potential kids like Lancelot during my time in the juniors who get burned out on tennis (mentally/physically) by the time they hit college or post college (tour)...

Looks like this may be one of those rare ones where we disagree. I am going with the Rick Macci philosophy on this one, get them into a large racquet and lay the groundwork.

Remember, this is a rally and his technique is not going to be like in a drill. How would his forehand look in a hand fed drill?....just like it does at the 10-12 second mark. All the elements are there. The key is he is moving the feet and using adjustment steps to get in the right position. I guarantee if you saw him in a controlled drill his strokes would be sweet.

Macci does rally stuff like this all the time, he would be trying to get them moving, all the while correcting the strokes. But at his age, they will break down at times in rallies like this.

I would take this student all day long....he moves, he adjusts his position. Are his strokes a little wild in a rally setting, yup. But in a controlled setting he would be amazing and gradually his rally technique would match up.
