Recommended Alternative to Tourna?

A few years ago I started using Tourna Grip. Standard tacky grips were giving me blisters. Switching to Tourna fixed it. I loved the feel of Tourna Grip and the low durability didn't really bother me.

Nowadays I play a lot harder and a lot more often. Instead of re-gripping once a week, I'm now doing it almost every day I play.

Can anyone recommend a grip similar in feel to Tourna but lasts longer?

I started using Wilson Ultra Wrap overgrip. I bought a bowl of 50 overgrips for barely $32. At first I thought they were gonna last one hour or two...but they are surprising me. They last around 7-8 hours. Depends on how you hold your racket and if you do weird movements when you hit.

The bowl I bought is with different colours. 5 pink, 5 yellow, 5 green, 5 brown, 5 blue/purple, 10 white and 15 black. I highly recommend them :)

Overgrips don't really last a long time, the tack wears off the tacky ones after 2 sessions of about 2 hours for me, so I get about 4-5 hours out of them. I hate playing with old overgrips that have lost their tack because they start slipping around. I think they're one of those things that should be changed regularly.

Having said that, maybe give Luxilon a try, they basically do their own version of Tourna that may or may not last longer. I'd say it's roughly the same since they're pretty much the same material. I prefer Tourna though.

Eagnas (.com) has a variety of overwrap grips. I bought the "Supreme Grip Bucket" of 60 overgrips which I use during the humid summer months. This is an absorbent-type grip that works best when a little wet. Has a PU surface. The description on the site says they have a "super tacky surface" but that is incorrect. These overgrips last a surprisingly long time. A real bargain.

Tried the Luxilon and have been pleasantly surprised. For me it's been just as durable as Tourna Grip w/ a slightly softer feel.

I'm just trying out the Pros Pro version 'Aqua Zorb 55'. Seems very similar, works out about 0.42 UKP each for a 60 pack so about 0.53 cents USD (but postage will bump this up).

I find tournagrip frays/tears pretty quickly, and so far the Zorb seems at least as good - but its a bit early to give a definitive verdict yet.

Trying the Supergrap now and like it so far. A little thicker and tackier than Tourna, but not an extreme change.

Will wait and see about durability.

An alternative that already was mentioned in similar threads about this very topic by several people (including myself).

Tourna grips are actually reversible (there is no tacky side), After a couple of sets, I just undo, flip over and redo. Viola... 2x the life.

You can also try Pro's Pro Aqua Zorb which doesn;t last quite as long as a Tourna Grip but is much cheaper.

Luxilon Elite Dry. Feels and wears like tournagrip from the 90's. I found tourna grip falls apart quickly these days.

I just tried the aqua zorb yesterday on a hot day and they where much slicker then the tournament grip so I didn't like it much

Head Xtreme Soft is smoother and slicker than tourna, but it's still got plenty of grip- I prefer it to fresh tourna. Its durability is far superior; I used to wear out tourna grips every day or two, but Xtreme soft lasts me months. It's very durable despite being so thin and soft.

Just tried the Luxilon Elite Dry. Extremely similar to Tourna but maybe a tiny bit more tack. I like it better than Supergrap so far.

Update: Durability was disappointing. Lasted about as long as Tourna. Maybe a little bit longer but not by much. The grip got slippery and no longer absorbed moisture.

I play a lot in the heat. The plus of tourna to me is you get a better feel of the grip as it doesn't add too much thickness, but it rips apart or gets too slippery in extreme heat after about 1 set. So if I play 5 sets of singles a couple times a week, I've got to have my three sticks with new tournas for every match to be able to switch fast. Then I may need to re grip one or two during a changeover. Supergrap has given me the best results as far as durability in the heat with sweat, but it adds a lot of thickness.

Solinco heaven grip. It stays dry and is durable. I used to use tourna in the summer and supergrap or Wilson pro in the winter when I needed the extra grip with drier hands. Now I use heaven grips in the summer and Wilson pro in the winter.

Tried the Aqua Zorb. Not even close to performance of the TournaGrip . Becomes very slippery once perspiration gets on it.

I just now checked the thickness of the Zarsia Profile Dry Feel OG with calipers. Clamped down, the thickness is 0.37mm. Normal measurement without pressure is 0.71mm. Weight with securing tape is 7.1 grams, consistent over all OGs in a pack of 60.

Supergrap white has all these pretenders beat, and doesn't add much thickness if you pull it tight.

There is a "ridginess" to it at the seam, but I kind of like it.
